Moorflix began in 2010 as Temple Community Cinema showing in Temple Village Hall, however the hall was in refurbishment until month 7 of our first season! Since we did not want to wait 7 months to show a film, we decided to alternate showings in 2 other Moorfoot villages, Carrington and North Middleton. During those 7 months we gained audicences from all of the villages so after Season 1 was complete, we decided to rename to Moorflix and continue to show in each of the villages. Moorflix - Filmmaking

Moorfoot Community Films was formed to encourage film making in the local area and provide support for any new ideas. We hope to purchase some equipment and do some animation workshops for children in the near future. In 2011, we won the BFFS Jim Dempster Award for Innovation. The next feature began filming in May 2010 has been running for many months but the premiere is now planned for 1st/2nd October 2011 - see the details on the right. A Sense of Purpose (2015). Moorflix - Show it Yourself

Moorflix receives many suggestions for films throughout our seasons but we are limited to how many we can show. We try and show a balanced range of films through each season to suit everyone. We introduced a new initiative which allows local people to suggest a film, gather enough support to cover the costs, then host the event themselves. Moorflix would help with equipment and communications to interested people. Showings would need to be funded by everyone who attends and there would be a minimum cost.

Moorflix was setup in June 2010 (originally as Temple Community Cinema) to show quality films to the South Midlothian community. It is a non-profit making organisation run by volunteers. We show films once or twice a month from September to June, with one-off films and children's matinees every so often. After only one season. We won the 2011 BFFS Jim Dempster Award for Innovation.
