History of the Garden. Chilluns to Andrews Corner. The house was built in 1935, for Paignton butcher William Hooper, as a place for the family to escape the summer crowds of Torbay. It was originally known as “Chilluns”, a Devon dialect word for. Reflecting the purpose of it’s early use.
