Chopped Challenge: ljgourmet
http://ljgourmet.livejournal.com/118281.html
Do you ever feel like you are in food rut? Wandering up and down the aisles of the grocery store last night, I realized that I just wasn't feeling inspired to cook.again. Seriously, I had the worst time figuring out what to make for dinner. Got through three quarters of the store and didn't have a single idea. Later, watching TV with my hubby, I saw Food Network's Chopped. Chopped gave me an idea. What if we hosted a Challenge here on LJ? Would anyone be interested? 6 Once completed, you must post your r...

I was told to come here from the home brewing forum to help my undertake my wine making adventures. My mentor mostly dabbled and made decent beers, and took over and have gotten to the point of the family is excited for the next flavor. I've really gotten rounds of cheers with infusing other flavors and elements into beers and stouts, and want to move on with wines. I've already gleaned so many handy facts reading through past entries here. :D. And still get the most bang for you buck? Post a new comment.

Alls well that ends well...I guess: wine_making

Alls well that ends well.I guess. Meanwhile, I had three gallons of pink (yup, pink) alcohol. I read that rhubarb blends well and takes on the flavor of whatever your blending it with, so I mixed up some of the blueberry with the flavorless concoction. Amazing results. Post a new comment. Limoncello: wine_making
http://wine-making.livejournal.com/70467.html
Im hoping that this community hasn't died out - I see that no entries have gotten comments since last year. I 'm looking for a better Limoncello recipe than the one I have - when frozen, it separated into ice crystals, which suggests that the alcohol concentration wasn't high enough. Ive laid in some Everclear and vodka (the previous one was vodka only) and would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience with tis drink. Thanks! Post a new comment. I may have to start buying lottery tickets. - Hedera's Garden

Cultivating both flowers and weeds. I may have to start buying lottery tickets. Jun 9th, 2014 at 4:45 PM. Someone on one of my facebook feeds posted this link to Williamsburgs needlework classes. Now I am in lust. It would make more sense for me to spend this sort of money on classes if I did some sort of professional needlework, or did embroidery for a church, though. As a hobby, its just a tad too spendy. United States, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh. 2 comments Leave a comment. Jun 11th, 2014 01:52 pm (UTC).

Need some help with hose ID. So here is a picture or three of the hose we need advice on - what is it and can I run the car with it disconnected? And anything else you can advise about getting it connected again will be appreciated. http:/ tinyurl.com/33ub2c3. There are notes on the first photo. Thanks! Edit: here's a picture of the whole engine - mouse over for notes. http:/ tinyurl.com/22ohqcd. There's also a closeup of the air cleaner, and a photo of the mystery boot that I discovered this morning.

Deep frying in butter (ghee): ljgourmet
http://ljgourmet.livejournal.com/120305.html
Deep frying in butter (ghee). After looking over the Wikipedia entry on smoke point. And noticing that ghee had a very high smoke point, I decided I'd try to use it to deep fry with. I generally followed the guidelines in this article. Using a coffee filter rather than cheese cloth), and it looked like it came out ok but it's possible I cooked it too long. What went wrong here? Has anyone tried deep frying in ghee, and has it been successful? Did I overcook the ghee, causing the foaming?
