Wednesday, January 20, 2010. I need my kinako mochi fix. I try to eat this every year. Partly for luck (as is Japanese custom), partly the earthiness of it's flavor and texture but I think most because it conjures up warm memories when I felt safe and secure. Tuesday, December 28, 2010. Sanuki No Sato and Sakae Sushi. Today we met some beloved family friends and had lunch at Sanuki No Sato. They are known for their udon, soba and donburi. Had a great time catching up, having a few laughs and enjoying Sanuki's food. After our annual trek to Marukai to purchase New Year's foods we picked up some Sakae Sushi in Gardena. Nothing beats it. I had the Kakiage-don Combo (Hot Udon with Kakiage tempura donburi). Troy, Pachi, Tak, Mom, Dad and Gayle. Love the menu board.
