Gloucester England late 1700's. One of the finest Russet apples known. Great fresh eating and cider, Exquisitely sugary. Mass 1740, A great old American apple, A crisp juicy winter apple best for fresh eating or Grandma's apple pies. The standard of all pears. Great for all uses. Best when ripened off the tree one to two weeks. Large yellow fruit, dries well, excellent flavor, sweet, grit-free, doesn't brown when cut, good salad pear. As the trees grew, so did the orchard, and as Mike neared retirement a barn was erected with a cold storage room for keeping the fruit as well as a place to store all of his tools and toys. Meanwhile, their daughter, Emily, and her husband, Mike, were coming over most weekends to help out with the ever growing crowds. We are looking forward to this year's season and are working hard so that the apples are what you have come to expect from us!

Approximate ripening dates: (Refresh the website for weekly updates). The orchard will be opening the weekend of September 10 - 11. Sept 10 and 11 - Lustre Elstar and Honeycrisp. Pears will be available in the sales room. Small quantities of other varieties may be available on a weekly basis. We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. 2016 PRICING WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON. Bushel of apples 42 lbs. - $65. Half bushel of apples 21 lbs. - $35. Peck of apples 10.5 lbs. - $20.

UPDATE FOR THE 2016 SEASON! The Starkrimson pears are getting large and turning red, so it must be time to think about opening up the orchard for harvest. This has been a difficult summer to work in the orchard, with hot temperatures, high humidity, and scant rainfall. The 2017 harvest season is about to begin. It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing that we are retiring and this will be our final season as More Than Delicious Orchard. During the weeks of bloom, the weather was cold and rainy, and we had very poor pollination. Also, there were two light frosts during bloom.
