Where is the Mormon Theology and Doctrine Love? September 12, 2005 By: Geoff J @ 7:01 pm Category: Bloggernacle. Ronan made a funny comment over at BCC. The other day that I thought was worthy of posting on. After my favorite doctrinal sparring partner Jeffrey Giliam. Made a comment and I agreed with it Ronan said:. Has anyone seen Geoff J and Jeffrey G. (GJ JG GJ) in the same room together? 8230; Doctroholics come only one per generation. I’m checking your IP’s. New Cool Busted! 1 The S Word. The word s...

Our Thoughts: Converts vs. Constancy
http://kmsiever.blogspot.com/2005/12/converts-vs-constancy.html
December 20, 2005. Converts vs. Constancy. Which would you do if you were president of the Church? A: Tweak doctrines and policies as society values change in order to encourage church growth through converts. This would allow more people to be baptised and receive saving ordinances, but may give some persons the impression that God changes. The church has already decided on A. Now, you've got to ask yourself how sure are you that the preceding Presidents got it right? Not at all. part of constant th...

Our Thoughts: 30 Year Church Growth
http://kmsiever.blogspot.com/2005/12/30-year-church-growth.html
December 08, 2005. 30 Year Church Growth. I decided to go through the reports of the April general conferences since 1974 and track the number of converts reported each year. I noticed some interesting things. First of all, there was a huge amount of growth from 1974-1990. The bulk of this time was under President Kimball's administration and five years of it was under President Benson's. Second, there appear to be small pockets of growth decline every few years. I have a feeling a lot of the people who ...

Our Thoughts: Stephen Harper and the real world
http://kmsiever.blogspot.com/2005/12/stephen-harper-and-real-world.html
December 13, 2005. Stephen Harper and the real world. What is with the man? So, if your children are in organised sports. Then he is offering a tax break. But not if they are in any OTHER extra curricular program, whatever it may be. How about the arts? Music lessons aren't cheap. And what if my children want to be in yoga classes? I guess those don't count! Posted by Mary Siever. As far as being afraid of him becoming PM, I can't say I'm really happy about any of the big three getting into office. Oh ye...

Our Thoughts: Rick Mercer for PM
http://kmsiever.blogspot.com/2005/12/rick-mercer-for-pm.html
December 14, 2005. Rick Mercer for PM. Ok, I had to chime in on this after reading the Beer petition. Not being a beer drinker, but being a Canadian I love the comments. :) And I have to agree with at least one signer. RICK MERCER FOR PRIME MINISTER! I wish I was just joking, but I'm not. I wish we had him as a choice, he'd get my vote. But then we'd lose him as the country's funniest person. Posted by Mary Siever. Who is Rick Mercer? Http:/ rickmercer.blogspot.com/. Huh, i didn't know that. Oh, and for ...

Our Thoughts: Corrupt
http://kmsiever.blogspot.com/2005/12/corrupt.html
December 19, 2005. When Joseph Smith was visited by Jesus and God, he was told that the Christian denominations at the time were all wrong, all their creeds were an abomination, their professors were all corrupt, their words spoke of Christ but their actions did not, and they taught commandments of men as doctrine (See JSH 1:19. In the 185 years since then, have Christian churches improved? Are they still corrupt and abominable? Are their professions of Christianity still hollow? Good perspective Val....

Our Thoughts: Death and God
http://kmsiever.blogspot.com/2005/12/death-and-god.html
December 09, 2005. How do you "explain" to an elderly man (lifetime member although inactive for many years) that God is not to blame for his wife being literally on death's door? What do you say when he asks why is God doing this to us? Is He punishing us for not going to church all these years? Is this His way of repaying us back for coming back to church these last few months? I've run out of ideas. Posted by Easy as Epicure. Does he think he and his wife were going to be alive forever? Kim: I'm confu...

Our Thoughts: How to Get Married in 10 Easy Steps
http://kmsiever.blogspot.com/2005/12/how-to-get-married-in-10-easy-steps.html
December 09, 2005. How to Get Married in 10 Easy Steps. Traditional culture among members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seems to encourage people to get married quickly. Of course, often people seem not to do such for a number of reasons (finish school, everyone's ugly, don't have a car, etc). It has never been tested on bachelorettes. Do NOT proceed to the next steps without fully completing this step. 3 Set a goal date by which you will be married. Same conditions as above. 5 Phone...

Our Thoughts: Un-Christmas Christmas
http://kmsiever.blogspot.com/2005/12/un-christmas-christmas.html
December 08, 2005. I don't know how to just post a link on here for some reason it doesn't allow me to do it so I have to cut and paste an article my Bishop just sent me and other leaders in our ward. It's a sad sad day when we no longer can celebrate Christmas in public without having to worry whether or not it is politically correct or if we will be taken to court. UPDATE: Here's the link. Posted by Easy as Epicure. How wide spread is that? I'd really like to know. Http:/ minorclergy.journalspace&#...

Our Thoughts: Afterlife
http://kmsiever.blogspot.com/2005/12/afterlife.html
December 14, 2005. In the LDS view of the afterlife, will the religion of persons who are not LDS have any bearing on the judgement they receive? For example, will judgement be more favourable for a practicing Catholic than it would be for a devil worshipper? I suppose their religion probably has some relationship to how well they chose to respond to whatever light and truth they had. So my guess is that their religion will, indirectly, have something to do with how they are judged. Boy I sure hope so.
