Cook create. taste. celebrate. explore. collect. consider. nurture. Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Western australia : 14 mile beach, ningaloo, Warroora Station. Initially we thought we'd stay three nights at Warroora Station which is situated on the Coral Coast at Ningaloo. The wind came up in the night and our superb annexe did its thing by providing shade during the day, a confined space for the baby to play and a mozzie-free spot to eat dinner. The view from Telstra Hill. Links to this post. Wooramel Stati...

Cook create. taste. celebrate. explore. collect. consider. nurture. Thursday, March 10, 2016. Queensland: mission beach, townsville, bowen, horsehoe bay. Breaking the rhythm can be good. When we pulled in to Townsville it was hot and dry and dusty. It was an instantly charming town. We stayed the night on the oval of a Seventh Day Adventist Church. It was cheap and comfortable and our friend Rachel came over for beers once the kids were in bed. That was fun! Miss May Blossom Facebook http:/ www.faceb...

Cook create. taste. celebrate. explore. collect. consider. nurture. Thursday, March 10, 2016. After months and months living in the confines of the caravan with a family of five it's hardly surprising that everyone needs a little space. J was obliging and I took the opportunity to have TWO NIGHTS ON MY OWN on the stunning Fitzroy Island while he had the kids. I hardly took any photos. I just wanted to BE. Returning to the mainland was a delight as the kids were wrapped their arms around me. I did mis...

Cook create. taste. celebrate. explore. collect. consider. nurture. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. The walk from the People's Park to Hogarth Falls is a great walk to do with kids. It's about half an hour to the falls along the creek through beautiful rainforest - huge trees, ferns and, if your lucky, a platypus. We love our outdoor shower. Its ideal for rinsing off after the beach or for when it's warm enough to shower outside and that's where you'd rather be! Links to this post. Travel Australia with kids.

Cook create. taste. celebrate. explore. collect. consider. nurture. Saturday, June 27, 2015. Western australia: karijini national park, circular pool. Circular Pool was the third walk we did with the six children. They grabbed their walking sticks and rock hopped like the confident rock climbers they are! We did have a tough time reigning some of them in though! The Pilbara had some rain a fortnight ago and their was still plenty of water about. Photos courtesy of Vivid Imaging. Links to this post. Cook create. taste. celebrate. explore. collect. consider. nurture. Friday, July 31, 2015. Western australia: windjana gorge to fitzroy crossing via tunnel creek. It's a short drive from Windjana Gorge to Lillimooloora Station, the site where Jandamarra shot his friend, the policeman Richardson in order to free his people and from where he fled in to the Gorge at the onset of the three year battle which claimed many of the Banuba people and finally Jandamarra himself. Did I mention it was pitch black?

Cook create. taste. celebrate. explore. collect. consider. nurture. Monday, August 10, 2015. Northern territory: nitmiluk national park, leliyn. Also known as Edith Falls, Leliyn is a beautiful spot. There are a few bush walks from the campground ($25/n for the family) and we chose to take the kids on the 1.6km loop to the Upper Pool and back down the other side. We also left our camera behind so there are no photos of the gorgeous rock pools. Links to this post. Northern territory: tjuwaliyn hot springs.

Cook create. taste. celebrate. explore. collect. consider. nurture. Thursday, March 10, 2016. Queensland: cairns, kuranda. J lived in Cairns years ago during his first years in the navy. The hotel where he lived for the year is still there, looking weathered. He was excited about showing us around. We also managed to catch up with a few other friends too and we had babysitters (thanks Lisa) so we had another night out! Was that 2 nights in 11 months? We enjoyed our visit to the Butterfly Sanctuary. I...

Cook create. taste. celebrate. explore. collect. consider. nurture. Thursday, March 10, 2016. Our stay at Airlie Beach coincided with friends from the NSW North Coast. It was such a good couple of days hanging out - at the lagoon on the foreshore, on the aqua park at at their hotel. We'd planned to take the kids snorkelling on the outer Barrier Reef but decided to postpone it until they're older and the six hour return boat trip won't be such a chore. Cook create. taste. celebrate. explore. collect. consider. nurture. Thursday, March 10, 2016. Queensland: eungella national park, finch hatton gorge, pioneer valley. It was good to get out of the busy-ness that Airlie was, back on the road to explore. As the name suggests the camp is situated on the edge of the river and from the banks the platypus can be spotted in the early morning and late afternoon. Of the light is right (which it was for us) you can see the creatures when they stir up the silt a...
