North Star: BCN Table of Distances
http://nbnorthstar.blogspot.com/2011/06/bcn-table-of-distances.html
Saturday, 4 June 2011. BCN Table of Distances. I recently bought one of the original BCN Table of Distances, partly because I had recently lost out in an auction for another BCN share certificate. And partly because I wanted it. The BCN Table of Distances is heavy - just under 8kg - and is all solid, rubbed leather, bindings and heavy paper. Each of its one hundred pages simply shows the Birmingham Canal Navigations in strip form. Every branch, every arm, every wharf, bridge and lock. 4 June 2011 at 22:29.

WhatKathyDid: December 2010
http://whatkathydid.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 28 December 2010. A proper white Christmas. Regardless of what the bookies say, Christmas in Dublin was as white as white can be. We took our plastic bags up the hill and flew down at top speed, getting caked with ice and snow as we braked. Brilliant! Links to this post. Thursday, 16 December 2010. On stage at Bright Club. Something I never, ever, thought would happen: me doing stand up. This was last Monday at Bright Club. Links to this post. Friday, 3 December 2010. This one's for you Lee!

Thursday, 11 November 2010. Out of the sandstorm into the rain - love it! Can't wait to get down to the boat this weekend. The weather promises to be sunny. After 3 days of winds and rain. Mind you, I can't really complain about the weather. On Monday I was enjoying 27 degrees-worth of bright sunshine in Leptis Magn. A, Libya. I was working at the weekend doing teacher training for doctors but had the Monday free. On Tuesday we had to fly home in a sandstorm! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Narrow Boat Chalice: Thames is magnificent, but very busy today
http://chalicecruises.blogspot.com/2011/04/posted-by-alancath-last-night-we.html
Boating with our canal narrow boat "Chalice". Friday, 22 April 2011. Thames is magnificent, but very busy today. Last night we finally got down to thinking about our options for the rest of the journey. Although we were sure we had probably caught up enough of the time lost over Alan's eye problems, there remained the thorny question about one particular stretch of the Thames which although only just over 5 miles long always places heavy constraints on the journey into London. Of course this stretch of t...

Varekai: November 2012
http://syvarekai.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
The search for intergalactic one-ness. When I heard a decent storm was heading my way I checked all the lines, added a couple more springs and went shopping for extra provisions. If I'm going to be kept awake all night with crashing, banging and Armageddon going on outside, then I should make best use of this extra awake time. I ask myself, what would Thora Hird do? Bake a cake surely? Bake a bad ass fucking cake! What could possibly go wrong? I mean, I can do cakes right? Night time revision in the dark.

The search for intergalactic one-ness. Finally, out of the marina. Finally, got a sail up. Aaaah, such happy times can only bring expense and misery. Just coming around to land, flaps down. Shortly after the pics were taken, I discovered a loose raw water inlet valve for the engine. Varekai had to be rushed back into the marina the next day, craned out and waiting for me when I got home from work. All pics courtesy of the man with the camera, Gids. Mucho mucho gracias. Getting some miles in. These are st...
