The Municipal Band of Allentown Remembers. Richard F. Hinkle. It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Richard F. Hinkle who passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2005. Born September 9, 1931 in Philadelphia, Mr. Hinkle was this band's director and motivating force for 31 years, from 1971 to 2002. The members of the Municipal Band of Allentown will remember Mr. Hinkle fondly. We thank him for his yeas of dedication to us and to the community we continue to serve. The Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The Municipal Band of Allentown. Musical director assisant director. Originally from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Richard Steltz graduated from Pottsgrove High School in 1962. Mr. Steltz earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from West Chester State College and a Master's Degree in Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, in New York. He studied trumpet privately with Seymour Rosenfeld of the Philadelphia Orchestra and with Harry Glasel in New York.

The Municipal Band of Allentown. The Municipal Band of Allentown celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 1998 with a concert at Cedar Crest College. The band performs around the City of Allentown and throughout the Lehigh Valley area, performing a variety of musical styles ranging from marches, Broadway show tunes, orchestral transcriptions, and concert band literature.
