Saturday, 23 June 2012. After a lenghty flight home, we arrived back safely. Our dogs and other animals had all been beautifully looked after, we were so pleased to see them and the welcome we got was ecstatic, which was lovely. Salads I made today. Monday, 18 June 2012. Wednesday, 25 July 2012. I have a sister who makes the best Banoffee Pie. I was thinking about her a few days ago and decided to try and make one, it is terribly indulgent, rich and just downright naughty but equally delicious. It has four main elements. A biscuit base. followed with a layer of caramel ( the offee bit, as in toffee), then sliced banana , topped with whipped cream. I grated some chocolate on the top, just to make it extra bad. Luckily there were lots of people to share it with.

Thursday, 19 July 2012. One of our orange trees. A few days ago I made some date and orange muffins. Partly because I desired something naughty but also because we have six trees laden with delicous oranges. Sweet and juicy. Unsullied by sprays and picked fresh. Each year we have to give bags away as we cannot eat then all. We juice, freeze, eat and use them in cooking. Maybe I should make some marmalade. Wednesday, 25 July 2012. A little disappointed as I was supposed to receive two tickets to the premier of the local showing of "The Sapphires" for tonight.free. Never mind. So, I got busy in the kitchen instead. I made chocolate chip cookies, requested by certain members of the family. If it's going to be naughty at least I know what's gone into them. Well, hello there! It's been a while, eh? I abandoned my blog. It seemed redundant to write about my life when I now live right next door to the people I originally wrote for. but at the prodding of those loved and dear ones, I've decided to resume. Her work bench is like a fantasy come to life: laces, ribbons, antique buttons, chains, every sort of odd and end you could ever dream of to make the most wonderful accoutrements. I was in heaven. I took a walk. A gentleman who had waited patiently behind for me to finish entered the frame. I took a picture as he walked away. I walked further and found a diorama on the sidewalk. I now have two orchids living in my house. Brian has an aversion to cut flowers, and so has begun a tradition of living plants as gifts. The first one we had to leave in L.A. with his mother, it wouldn't have survived the trip up north. So now I have V-day and Easter 09 lounging in my living room. My good friend Melodie sent me a package. In it was a jar of this year's blueberry jam, from the berries out in back of the the log house that her husband built and that they live in. She packed it in pretty paper and sprinkled dried flowers and sent it in a cloth-covered box. It made my week. There's a brook in the back. Hungry?
