Deacon's Diary

Tuesday, July 28, 2015. A story of three people and how their lives have changed. The children at Kay Timoun are my love. Anyone who knows me knows that I am always talking about and bragging about “my kids”. But today I want to tell you about a few of the adults that I am with and how my ministry in Haiti has changed their lives. Our cook, Dedet, just showed up one day. She was there to help out. Her little girl was in my care and she wanted to show appreciation by helping with food preparation. I talke...

Deacon's Diary: Challenges and abundant blessings

http://mostlyhaitian.blogspot.com/2014/06/its-so-hot-myclothes-are-soaked-with.html

Sunday, June 15, 2014. Challenges and abundant blessings. It’s so hot! My clothes are soaked with sweat and my face is dripping. The bugs are almost unbearable! They swarm around the tomatoes in the bowl and the pineapples sitting on the counter. Mosquitos threaten my health. I’d like a good night’s sleep but I lay spread eagle on my bed trying to get catch a breeze. I’d love to have a nice cool shower, but the best I can do is a bucket bath with water carried to my room. Life here is difficult! He bless...

Deacon's Diary: November 2014

http://mostlyhaitian.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 5, 2014. As we approach another holiday season enjoying time together with family and friends, feasting on delicious and plentiful meals, opening beautifully wrapped gifts, and worshipping in a beautifully decorated church while listening to beautiful music sung by our very own choir, let’s keep in mind those of us in the Body of Christ who have so very little and yet celebrate fully the coming of Christ in their own special way. We invited children in the village to join us. The chil...

Deacon's Diary: Another reflection on poverty

http://mostlyhaitian.blogspot.com/2014/09/another-reflection-on-poverty.html

Sunday, September 21, 2014. Another reflection on poverty. One would think that by this time I'd be used to the poverty that surrounds me and become somewhat "hardened" to it. But I'm not used to it and who know if I ever will be. A typical case that I can't get accustomed to seeing.a mother who gives birth to one child after another when she can't afford to feed the ones she has. I think to myself, "Doesn't she have any sense? How can she be so unaware? Who am I to impose my values on her?

Deacon's Diary: March 2014

http://mostlyhaitian.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 15, 2014. A Girl at Kay Timoun. I'll tell you about this girl, M, that I'm caring. For The situation is so pathetic that to deal with her I. Have to look at her with humor. It's not funny, it's sad, but you. Know "gallow's laugh"- that's what this is. A little. Background.shortly after I opened Kay Timoun I went out the back. Door to find twin girl babies, almost naked, lying on the floor. My first. Thought was "Oh no! Somebody left me twins".they were tiny, scrawny,. And go home at night...

Mostly Guitars. | Frets, Strings, Passions

Frets, Strings, Passions. May 25, 2011. Walking into the spring Seattle-Tacoma Guitar Show at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, I was struck by this box of electric solidbodies and one old banjo, at the table for “GuitarManiacs”, a really cool vintage guitar store across the street from City Hall in Tacoma, Washington. My thoughts on the death of Eric Garner. Since everyone else is throwing in their 2 cents, why not me? I posted this in a thread on a certain message board-that-shall-not-be-named, but I think it sums up my feelings pretty well on the matter. I’ve also included some additional comments below made by other commenters that add some clarity to the issue, IMHO. THE SYSTEM IS RACIST, MAN! It’s unjust because of what actually happened, not because of some imagined racial angle.”. 8220;Officers prior complaints...

Trailer for the ‘2013 Festival National du Film d'Animation’. Directed by Emma De Swaef and Marc James Roels. Caleb Wood has an incredible eye for animation… I mean, no onion skin, no preview… Just one frame after another… and it actually works so smooth. Hats off! Crafted animation and illustration, mostly. This is a place for visual arts with a heart. Things made with hands, feet, toy bricks and melted chocolate bars. Or maybe just good old paper and pen. Mdash; Tumblr themes.

Mostly Happenchance

Monday, September 21, 2009. We've been as M.I.A. lately as Kanye's impulse control. I'm really, really sorry about that. And I don't even have an ill-timed Hennessy to blame it on (the over-used joke OR the prolonged unexplained absence). I think I just had a total digital communication overload. Have you ever felt that? But now we're back. But to anyone still reading (especially Aunt Sue), we're sorry for being such blog dingos. We hope you'll forgive us. Monday, June 29, 2009. I have been looking for a...
