Comments on Life, the Universe, and NCF Saharas! Sahara Kit Car Breaking News #2. NCF Sahara Update →. NCF Sahara Kit Car Breaking News #3. May 7, 2010. Last time I said it would be a brief one but turned out to be quite a long one this one will hopefully be shorter! In summary: A couple of weeks ago the brand new custom radiator from Brunel. One of the reasons for the new radiator was to remove the need for the separate gearbox cooler (rusty hedgehog! I was going to mount it in place as this gets me 50%...

Comments on Life, the Universe, and NCF Saharas! Starting the engine a tale of disappointment and woe, but with a happy ending. Windscreen fitting and Air box choice →. Seats and giant gaps in the floor! June 7, 2010. After the success with the engine I was really inspired to crack on with the (quite large) list of jobs. I decided to order the front pair from Toys4Cars. As noted before I can’t weld so I found a local engineering company via google called Johnsons Motor Radiators. Before I could fit the s...

Comments on Life, the Universe, and NCF Saharas! Windscreen fitting and Air box choice. The Sahara is finished and on the road! June 22, 2010. Well, a couple of weeks ago I got my arse in gear and rang up the DVLA to ask how I go about registering a change of Body type for the Sahara. The first person I spoke to said just to note it on the V5, send it off and then a few weeks later 90% of people get an updated V5, but some get called for an inspection. Brilliant I thought, dead easy. Yes it would most li...

Comments on Life, the Universe, and NCF Saharas! Starting work on the Engine Bay →. Replacing the suspension on a Discovery 1. May 12, 2010. One quick job I had to finish before I carried on with work on the new body was replacing all the suspension springs. I tackled this over a couple of days doing the rear ones first and the front ones later on. Don’t forget to chock the wheels that are staying on the floor before jacking as you don’t want the thing rolling off the stands or jack. Once this was off i ...

Comments on Life, the Universe, and NCF Saharas! Land Rover show at Billing. New addition to the family →. October 24, 2006. Well, it’s been a while since I posted, but I just had to share this one. Scenes that I can remember are :. The other guy then says something along the lines of you’re right…. then shouts BRING OUT 2 BOTTLES OF SWEET SHERRY FOR THE LADIES. When the guy comes back outside and puts the two bottles of sherry for the ‘ladies’ on the back of the truck, weighed down by lager,...New addit...

Comments on Life, the Universe, and NCF Saharas! May 31, 2011. Ok, hands up, I screwed up! Last time out I was complaining that the screen washer bottle and jets I’d fitted to the Sahara just weren’t up to the job and couldn’t reach the screen. Whenever you hit the screenwash button a rather pathetic spray would dribble onto the screen, and being honest, up into the back of the windscreen because of the low angle it managed. Have a look at this picture and see if you can see why:. To check it was all wor...

I'm Martin. I'm a product manager, developer and designer. My day job is at ABB Enterprise Software. Where I work on CCLAS, a LIMS product for commercial and minerals laboratories. Before that, I worked at Dassault Systèmes. On a mine production management system called InSite. I've also done some branding and product design at Intative. And designed iOS applications at Oak Systems. And occasionally share interesting links and ideas about technology at Mostly Qualmless. I live in Brisbane, Australia.

Technology, design and life in the future. Written by Martin Simirenko. I enjoyed this post over on Elezea. The ROI on increasing utility is probably much higher than the ROI on improving usability. In the context of enterprise software this is most definitely true. Exhibit #3: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser #2. Exhibit #2 in things my childhood self would have thought was cool: David Hasselhoff - True Survivor - YouTube. Today I spent too long looking at UGLY BELGIAN HOUSES. The first one ...
