The Bird's Nest: September 2009

http://www.motherbird-nest.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 25, 2009. We learned about water pollution and filtration and the ecosystem of a pond. After the classroom portion, we went outside with nets, scopes, and magnifiers and explored to our hearts delight- thanks to my wonderful forest preserve district for lending us some fun equipment. The kids were amazed at all they were able to find, including some awesome snail shells. What a blast! Tuesday, September 08, 2009. Not much to say but here's a few pictures from our first week:. The Bird's Nest: May 2009

http://www.motherbird-nest.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 26, 2009. The memorial day weekend was celebrated with a parade and visiting with family. This morning we enjoyed a nature walk. Everything is green and blooming. The kids were noticing bugs and birds everywhere, stopping so they could record them in the nature journals. I'd say summer break is off to a pretty good start. :). We are a homeschooling family of 7 attempting a living education following the rhythm of nature and the wheel of the year. Shelfari: Book reviews on your book blog.

The Bird's Nest: August 2008

http://www.motherbird-nest.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 30, 2008. Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Today is the first day that I really sensed the beginning of Fall. The sun was shining and it was still warm outside, but the air was cool enough that a few of the kids pulled on pants today instead of shorts. We even had to close the windows last night while we were sleeping since it just got too chilly, even with big blankets. But it turned out to be a beautiful day! M found this hidden trail and suggested it might be a good place to set up camp.

The Bird's Nest: March 2009

http://www.motherbird-nest.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 30, 2009. It started with a pot of cooked oatmeal for everyone. And then a bath for Babybird. I highly recommend starting the school day with an early morning hike. Even if the air is still crisp and chilly as a reminder of yesterday's snowfall. But the snow has since melted, the sky is clear blue,. And the birds are chirping away. Watching leaves and twigs float down the creek to find out how far they will go is the best part of this 3 yr old's morning. Yep, a lovely morning. This one has ...
