VanMama Adventures: September 2009
http://vanmama-adventures.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 30, 2009. In between the dishes, the meal planning, the shopping lists, packing the diaper bag, naps, the laundry, wiping, tidying, picking up, sorting, sous-chefing, cooking, changing diapers, reminding the boys, organizing play dates, and of course this blog, I read. Currently I'm reading Water for Elephants. By Sara Gruen. I haven't gotten very far, as I'm reading it in between The End of Food. These in between moments let me see the future, one where my roly poly baby is a man wi...

VanMama Adventures: July 2009
http://vanmama-adventures.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Too hot, but have to smile. I was going to post about our road trip, but my friend sent me this and I have to share. In the heat of the day, this sent happy chills down my sweaty, sweaty back. I do wish more of life was like this. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Sweet child of mine. This post will be devoted to my slightly ignored younger son at the request of my "fans", who ask why I don't write about him. Well, LL is a BABY, and doesn't do anything except grow. And grow he does! I watc...

VanMama Adventures: May 2009
http://vanmama-adventures.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 29, 2009. Fear and Loathing at Home. Let's see, I've survived my first month of having my older son home part-time. I was terrified at the prospects of caring for 2 children simulaneously, but now that I've done it, I can surmise that it really isn't TOO bad. I recently went to a Discovery Toys. Saturday, May 16, 2009. My friends said they would pick me up after 8:00 pm so I could help put the boys to bed and then have a few drinks without becoming a MADD. I was even more confused after they ...

VanMama Adventures: June 2009
http://vanmama-adventures.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 26, 2009. Tis the time for toilet training, and man is it a pain in the butt. I have recently let go of the convenience of diapers (go ANYTIME you want to sweetie! And become mistress to the "every hour potty" period. We read books, play with trains and sing in order to encourage proper potty pees and poos. Each time a poo happens, my husband and I erupt into the "SuperHappy" song, which is sung to the tune of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (did you know I loved Julie Andrews? Truly, I f...

VanMama Adventures: Caring for childcare
http://vanmama-adventures.blogspot.com/2009/10/caring-for-childcare.html
Monday, October 5, 2009. We've just gotten off the childcare roller coaster and what an emotional ride it's been. Bouncing around the family daycare circuit, riding the mommy guilt carousel and meeting with the Director of Child and Family Development Services at the Neighbourhood House have been taxing but necessary steps to ensure LL gets the same level of. Firstly, my definition of high quality childcare includes things lik. We did everything possible to ensure priority. We decided to continue liv...

VanMama Adventures: January 2010
http://vanmama-adventures.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 11, 2010. It's been a while since I've last posted. Blogging is hard work, work that I'm not all that suited to. Getting into the right mindset to put down in words the temperature of life. Finding a good subject with meat and meaning. Finding focus. I do have the attention span of a nat and have boiled away many pots of water (and other things) having been distracted by something outside of the room. Don't get me wrong, I love my children and my life, and the. A wonderful get away with i...

VanMama Adventures: August 2009
http://vanmama-adventures.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 28, 2009. Being summer, I'm finding it very hard to sit still. I just want to be outside enjoying every last ounce of sunshine and warmth before the Vancouver gray sets in. In other words, sorry for the delay in part II. LL is asleep and probably engaged in one of his power naps. There were no places to shop, no hip places to hang out or be cool. This time, saddled with a non-stop toddler, it was fabulous! We visited the train museum. Visited lakes, went fishing, played at Fort George park.

Putting my Graphic Design career on hold for a year, I'm a Vancouver Mama with 2 kids in tow. This is a journey through the urban Wet Coast, child rearing and mommy best intentions. I'm hoping to highlight the best this city has to offer the toddler/baby/caregiver set, as well as personal "best of" picks, inspirations and distractions.

VanMama Adventures: March 2009
http://vanmama-adventures.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 28, 2009. I remember visiting friends during my first pregnancy and being introduced to the concept of poo watching. These jovial pals assured me how obsessive this pass time would become, how conversations would be dominated by, "So did he poo today? And ultimately they were right (much to my chagrin). My husband will call from work, not to see how MY day is going, but for a bowel update. Which is actually kind of charming in a "we're in this together" kinda way. . Sunday, March 15, 2009.

VanMama Adventures: January 2009
http://vanmama-adventures.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 30, 2009. It's been a few days now since the "big boy bed" has made an appearance. I had originally thought to bring it into G-man's room, gradually introduce him to the concept and have him stay in the crib as long as possible (or rather trapped. In the crib as long as possible). Well, he was instantly besotted by the blue, plastic bear bed. You got it for me! It is one thing at bedtime, which he was pushing before the bed's appearance (one more story, water please, I need socks! In Rich...
