A typical Tibetan Buddhist woman spinning the prayer wheels at Boudhanath Stupa. She requested that I take her photo so I did. At the northern part of Boudhanath Stupa. These two statues represent security of the Lord Buddha. I strongly believe that Lord Buddha is the light and these statues keep constant the light of knowledge he spreads. I wanted to capture that in this photo. Prayer wheel at Swayambunath Stupa. Patan Durbar Square, a World Heritage Site. Prayer wheels at Swayambunath Stupa.

Young Buddhist monks at the world-famous Boudhanath Stupa. You see lots of monks of all ages around they attend the many monasteries in the surrounding area and come to the Stupa to worship. This man was begging in Patan. He begged me to take his picture so I did and it made him happy. Return to image galleries.

Mother Tongues

I have chosen Mother Tongues as my metaphor for authentic expression because of the immediate comfort I feel when using my mother tongue and the inherent ease it offers me when telling my version of the truth. If we are to survive on this planet, I believe it is essential to actively tell that truth. Only in so doing, can we simultaneously bring ourselves and the earth in balance. With Mother Tongues, I work towards this balance. Photo by Christine Guinness.
