They give the grip on your tyres on rainy season. If your thread is worn out, it is okay to ride on a sunny weather but if it starts to rain, i would strongly suggest to you that you should wait till the rain to stop or better still till the roads are dry. The rust came back immediately the next day! Although the rust was'nt as bad as before, there were still rust appearing on the scratched pipe. I knew something has to be done so. Anything and Everything about Motorbikes. Thursday, February 10, 2011. Be careful of sharp objects, rocks etc as it will definitely damage your tyre/rim and that will cost you money. A standard tyre will cost roughly around 80-100 bucks a piece. So imagine a rock that would cost you 100 bucks. Id rather it hit my head then hit my tyres!
