What our guests say. A perfect location for. As our guest, you will have direct access to our hundred and forty acre ancient woodland nature reserve below the cottage. It has extensive walks with nearly two miles of river bank, and a spectacular Iron Age hill fort to explore. There is plenty of wildlife to spot from red deer to otters, rare butterflies to buzzards. Being situated in the middle of Exmoor makes Mounsey End an ideal base for visiting the attractions of North Devon and Somerset as well.

The house was built at the turn of the century as a ‘rural retreat’ to attract the growing number of those taking advantage of train and motor car to access the wildness and country pursuits on offer on Exmoor. The house has been in the family since the 1930’s, except for a brief period after the war. What our guests say. Mounsey End, Exmoor. A very comfy cottage in a peaceful, secluded setting. Exmoor is a well kept secret. It is the smallest and still the least known of the National Parks. Softer than Dartmoor, but with many equally wild and remote spots, it is a haven for wildlife and has much magnificent country scenery. Straddling North Devon and West Somerset, the moor itself is ringed by wooded combes and patchworked fields.

What our guests say. Ndash; Available for weekly bookings, long weekends and short breaks. Our week starts from 4pm on a Saturday through to 10am the following Saturday. Part weeks run between those times. Please contact us to discuss. Our prices are all inclusive of electricity, gas, logs, linen, towels and a welcome hamper of local produce. There is a discount if only two people stay. No smoking is permitted. Well behaved dogs welcome by arrangement. Wi-Fi Internet available on request.
