Transport of water from the sea, lakes and lowlands to the mountain ranges. Natural storages of large volumes of water that provide resilience to short term changes in climate but clearly reflect long term climate dynamics. Transport of rain and meltwater to the vast downstream basins where billions of people depend on it for their livelihoods. Satellites provide unique ways to perform large scale analyses of glaciers, rivers and climate. 3-D model of ice cliff backwasting published.

Glaciers - Mountain hydrology

http://mountainhydrology.org/topics/glaciers

To learn more about glacier dynamics, their response to climate change and their place in the climate system our research team studies the glaciers on small and large scale using various different methods. Studying the intricate interconnection between mountains, climate, water cycle, social impacts and more. 3-D model of ice cliff backwasting published. Mountainhydrology at AGU 2016. Updates from Cambridge: PhD, new OA paper, new project. New paper: climate change impacts on upper Indus basin hydrology.

Modelling - Mountain hydrology

http://mountainhydrology.org/methods/modelling

By modelling hydrological processes in mountainous regions we can get a improved understanding of their interplay. It also allows us to evaluate the effects of certain climate projections on the hydrological system. Studying the intricate interconnection between mountains, climate, water cycle, social impacts and more. 3-D model of ice cliff backwasting published. Mountainhydrology at AGU 2016. Updates from Cambridge: PhD, new OA paper, new project. Developed by Philip Kraaijenbrink.

Pascal and several team members have just had published their paper, A physically based 3-D model of ice cliff evolution over debris-covered glaciers. Simulated cliff evolution based on the monthly updated outlines. December 12, 2016. The closest we got to putting a ring somewhere was the ring memory of our sturdy Campbell Scientific CR1000. Rivers - Mountain hydrology

http://mountainhydrology.org/topics/rivers

Rain, glacial meltwater and groundwater all end up in one place, rivers. They transport the water from the mountain ranges via the lowlands back to the seas and oceans. People in downstream areas are often dependent on this water for their livelihoods. Studying the intricate interconnection between mountains, climate, water cycle, social impacts and more. 3-D model of ice cliff backwasting published. Mountainhydrology at AGU 2016. Updates from Cambridge: PhD, new OA paper, new project.
