Mountains and Water: April 2014
http://www.mountainsandwater.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 26, 2014. The Everest Show and the Post-Mountaineering Era. Adventure as far as the eye can see. Photo from the Times of London. Isn't there some way to kill off the Everest mystique once and for all? The Sherpa deaths are forcing us to look harder and closer at that question. If we are climbing for money, why are we climbing at all? If people are dying en masse. So that we can claim we climbed something, why even bother? Sir Edmund Hillary, upon returning to Base Camp, uttered the classi...
Mountains and Water: Video of Valhalla V7
http://www.mountainsandwater.com/2009/05/video-of-valhalla-v7.html
Friday, May 8, 2009. Video of Valhalla V7. I took a short trip to Flagstaff yesterday evening after an epic week of paper-writing was over. After doing Don't Touch the Glass V7 and falling off the very last move of the V9 Nook's Rock Traverse, I did Valhalla, a great steep V7 with a committing last move. Conditions were summery to put it mildly. The video doesn't do the angle justice but it may help others interested in finding this problem. May 8, 2009 at 4:56 PM. Chip, what are you up to these days?
Mountains and Water: Father's Day Session
http://www.mountainsandwater.com/2009/06/fathers-day-session.html
Sunday, June 21, 2009. As a relatively new father myself, Father's Day has an entirely new meaning and given me a new appreciation for what my father has given me. If you're a dad and you're still climbing (and of course even if you're not) congratulations! And if you have (or had) a father, take a moment to consider what that relationship is all about (even if it hasn't been easy) and give thanks for all you have experienced in this world. Here's a video of Tongue in Cheek, Shadowline to follow. Http:/ ...
Mountains and Water: What We Talk About When We Talk About Death in Climbing
http://www.mountainsandwater.com/2015/05/what-we-talk-about-when-we-talk-about.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2015. What We Talk About When We Talk About Death in Climbing. To the living we owe respect, but to the dead we owe only the truth" Voltaire. Interview with Dean Potter. What business a clothing manufacturer has discussing the most serious and unknowable aspect of human existence is beyond my ability to fathom but there it is. Should we be thinking more clearly whether the vision of sports sold by Red Bull, to take the most egregious example, is really worth supporting? Since you cover...
Mountains and Water: Five Questions For Bill Ramsey
http://www.mountainsandwater.com/2009/04/five-questions-for-bill-ramsey.html
Wednesday, April 15, 2009. Five Questions For Bill Ramsey. 1 How long have you been climbing and what has made it so compelling over time? I've been climbing for about 33 years. Some of the things I love about it that keep me coming back are the people, the combination of physical and mental challenge and problem-solving, and the fact that you do all this in stunning locations. 2 How did you get interested in working in philosophy and what fields do you specialize? Good thing summer is around the corner.

The Quest: September 2009
http://wyclimber.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Bouldering, Sport Climbing and most other out door activities have been halted today for what may turn into a week or more of early winter. Rain and cold are supposed to give way to snow tomorrow. I am not ready for this, but alas the changing of the seasons are upon us. The last 4 clips seem slabby, compared to the bottom, though this is not the case. Some pinches and stemming down low. Cruxy turning the lip, though not super hard, you are pretty pumped. Meanwhile Drew has...
The Quest: June 2011
http://wyclimber.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 30, 2011. Downtown with CK and JB. My last three visits to downtown have been spent almost entirely bolting new stuff at the John Henry Cave. I have roughly 6 new lines there now depending on how you count them. The left most line is totally independent and could be the hardest at the crag with 5.12 climbing and a hard (V8? Friday, June 24, 2011. Summer in Full Swing. A lot has happened in the way of climbing since my last post but yet I don't feel like I have accomplished much. Climbers D...

http://martinkeller.blogspot.com/2015/03/perfect-days.html
Thursday, March 12, 2015. At first it was not that perfect. after my ascent of "insanity of grandeur" i rested for a week, then got a bad flu. after 3weeks of lay-down-time i was ready to hit the outdoors again and i had some amazing days in deep pow some 30minutes away from home. Outdoor Habit: ...and projects completed
http://outdoorhabit.blogspot.com/2011/02/and-projects-completed.html
Friday, February 25, 2011. Video and Edit by Paul Evans, thanks Paul! After the long hike back to the car ( 10 feet), we parked by the Gill Boulder and walked down to the Water Rock to give Resonated some more tries. I had to try some slightly altered topout beta since my hamstring is still not great after my last encounter. I guess that's what it's like to be "in the zone". What a great feeling and one of my favorite problems ever! Posted by Doug Lipinski. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Outdoor Habit: July 2009
http://outdoorhabit.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2009. I'm moving to a new apartment this week (today actually) so real updates will resume once I have more than 10 minutes to sit down at a computer. I haven't had anytime to get outside during the past four or five days except for a (very) short run on Sunday. My knee is starting to feel better. But still not great. Hopefully it will keep improving. For now, you might want to check out ClimbingNarc. Posted by Doug Lipinski. Links to this post. Saturday, July 25, 2009. Speaking of Ja...
Outdoor Habit: Flagstaff again
http://outdoorhabit.blogspot.com/2011/03/flagstaff-again.html
Sunday, March 13, 2011. Over the past week I've spent 3 quick(ish) sessions up on Flagstaff, mainly since it's only about 15 minutes from my apartment, super convenient. My first visit last week was spent repeating some moderates. But I didn't really get on anything too hard. Then, a few days ago I went back and climbed a few harder problems which you can see in the video below. Hagan's Wall, V6 (repeat). Reverse Faceout, V7 (redpoint, 2nd try of the day). First Overhang, V5 (repeat). Good post and even ...

Friday, November 25, 2011. My Book is Out! And why you should buy it). So if you are looking for a tool that can help you get started in the sport as a total beginner or advance within the sport of bouldering, I think my book is an excellent resource to invest in. The book is available from a number of outlets including Amazon. And local outdoor stores. You can also contact me directly via this blog or the Facebook page. Second-Hand Cams: June 2012
http://secondhandcams.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 10, 2012. Gear Review: Thrift Store Baselayers. Nice day for a jaunt, aye? When it comes to clothing, there are two types of climbers: the ones who want performance, and the ones who want value. On the value end, you've got Kevin. After countless pitches on granite, basalt, and sandstone, the seat on Kevin's Dickies finally blew out. Instead of replacing them, he attacked them with a sewing machine. Now they look like something out of The Nightmare Before Christmas. This bike sweater has you...

Mountains and Valleys | Family road trip adventures through our National Parks.
Family road trip adventures through our National Parks. Muddying it Up in Big Bend National Park. February 25, 2015. I’ve been organizing some old photos from our 2011 trip to the National Parks in the Southwest. One of the great surprises of this trip was Big Bend National Park. It may be a one of the lessor-known parks, but we loved everything about it… the smells, the silence, the window views, the wide-open spaces, the hot springs, and of course, the one and only, Ranger Dan. But what we loved most?

Mountains and Water
Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Adam Ondra and the Dawn Wall: Veni Vidi Vici. Good question. Climbing boulders in Colorado, some, though still no American repeat of Hypnotized Minds, despite a rapid ascent by Rustam Gelmanov in grim summer conditions. Ticking routes in Rifle? Sure, though Mark Anderson doing Shadowboxing underlined that Rifle 8c /9a is hardly the preserve of fulltime climbers anymore. And of course there's the Red River Gorge in fall. So what's up? Is everyone too depressed by the election?

Santa Claus for Hire - Professional, Commercial, St. Nick Express, Atlanta and north Georgia
When I was young, my father began what has turned out to be a family tradition by being Santa Claus. My father passed the tradition on to my uncle, who was a great Santa and a big influence in my decision to continue the tradition. As it became my turn I thought, what could be more thrilling than being Santa Claus. Feeding reindeer, making toys, wrapping presents, shopping, singing Christmas carols, and my favorite, sipping hot chocolate with marshmallows by a warm fireplace.
