The primary school at Kanjonde runs daily in the church building. A single teacher is in charge of around 60 scholars in grades one through three. As part of our environmental awareness programme we provided materials for an environmental art competition amongst the scholars. Winners were picked from two categories, birds and forest. These are the winning drawings. BIRDS: OVERALL WINNER BY BENEDITU KAPUO (15 YEARS). BIRDS: SECOND PLACE BY PAULO ALFONETE (13 YEARS).

Getting to Mount Moco. Ussoque Town: 12.353807˚S, 15.101437˚E. Turn off to Kanjonde Village: 12.34961˚S, 15.11049˚E. Kanjonde Village: 12.42822˚S, 15.15258˚E, 1930 m altitude. To download a GPS track (for Garmin GPS) from Ussoque Town to Kanjonde Village. Currently there are no visitor facilities at Mount Moco, although visitors may camp, with permission from the soba of the village, near Kanjonde village. Bring all your own supplies. Clean (not drinkable) running water is available from a small, clear stream that runs past the village. Guides with limited Portuguese are available from Kanjonde to show you around the mountain.
