The English Romantic: April 2013
http://theenglishromantic.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Stitched Textiles and Mixed Media. Monday, 22 April 2013. I am loving making felt but will always feel the urge to stitch on all my work. There is nothing that I enjoy as much as the feel of needle and thread. I made my first felted beret this week in a workshop with the lovely Julie Bowen. Her instructions were clear and concise and her work was a true inspiration. Here is the finished beret with some hand stitching,. This is the label for my new collections. I stiffened the felt a little and needed to ...

The English Romantic: December 2012
http://theenglishromantic.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Stitched Textiles and Mixed Media. Saturday, 15 December 2012. I have always loved hand embroidery, so when I met Leslie from Faeriesinmygarden.com.au. I couldn't wait to join her Katys Secrets project of the month programme. I've just completed this pretty sachet to hold some of my embroidery threads. It has been a wonderful project to work on and has given me a chance to perfect stitches as I sewed. Inside there are flaps to hold my threads each one embellished with a Bullion rose. Have a fun weekend.

The English Romantic: Hello, I'm still around…..
http://theenglishromantic.blogspot.com/2014/08/hello-im-still-around.html
Stitched Textiles and Mixed Media. Friday, 29 August 2014. Hello, I'm still around…. Hello to all my lovely followers and apologies for my long absence. As you may know I started a BAHons degree in design last September. I have to say it has filled every waking moment (and often given me sleepless nights,) but I am loving every minute. I have been pushed way out of my comfort zone more times than I can count, learning new techniques and developing ones that I already knew. 29 August 2014 at 15:01. 29 Aug...

The English Romantic: March 2013
http://theenglishromantic.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Stitched Textiles and Mixed Media. Sunday, 10 March 2013. Little White Rabbits and flowers for Mothers Day. It's Mothering Sunday here in the UK and I received some beautiful flowers from my daughter. She lives 200 miles away in London so we can't get together very often. My surprise came carefully wrapped in a pink box. They are beautiful now that they are in a vase and the Freesias are sending a wonderful perfume around the room. Have a great week. Monday, 4 March 2013. Each fleece is individually grad...

The English Romantic: July 2013
http://theenglishromantic.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Stitched Textiles and Mixed Media. Thursday, 25 July 2013. I love to stitch little things for stitcher's, so here are my latest creations ready to go in my Etsy shop. I always stitch where ever I go so it,s nice to have a little set of my needfuls to quickly pick up. First my hoop, all ready to go in its own pocket. There's a place on the back for scissors, they are held in with a button and a loop. The pocket holds a 6 1/2 " hoop just the right size for work on the move. This is the scissor pocket.

The English Romantic: A new look.
http://theenglishromantic.blogspot.com/2013/12/a-new-look.html
Stitched Textiles and Mixed Media. Sunday, 29 December 2013. I've given my blog a new simpler look and hope you like it. I've been 'awol' for so long so it's good to say Hello…. I'm loving my course at Somerset College of Art and Design, it's hard work and very time consuming but it's wonderful to be part of such a inspiring and creative environment. My stitching has taken a back seat to painting and drawing but as it's the holidays I gave myself a little treat . The pearls make the edges look pretty too.

The English Romantic: June 2013
http://theenglishromantic.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Stitched Textiles and Mixed Media. Sunday, 16 June 2013. I love to use these pretty velvet flowers in my work, often added as they are to journals, fabric boxes and collages. Today I've been using them in embroidery and stitched onto some vintage linens. I needed to pull the Viola apart and peel the paper backing from the back. The bullion stitch has been worked with two strands of thread and the French knots with six strands. I added a few seed beads to give a little sparkle. Sunday, 9 June 2013. And la...

The English Romantic: September 2014
http://theenglishromantic.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Stitched Textiles and Mixed Media. Wednesday, 10 September 2014. I love the look and feel of cloth dolls and the quirkier the better. There is a real pleasure in searching through the internet and looking at American Primitive dolls, there appeal is endless. My friend Joan had a birthday recently so I made "Maddy" as a gift for her. This happy little soul now sits on a chair in her sitting room. Coffee time now, off to meet another friend. Sunday, 7 September 2014. A Summer of Design. My work is a random...

The English Romantic: May 2013

Stitched Textiles and Mixed Media. Wednesday, 29 May 2013. I can't resist turning my plain lampshades into something gorgeous and feminine. I found this one in a skip whilst out walking with my Grandson. As I paused to look at it he said ' Oh No Nana' and walked quickly down the street. I asked the friendly builders if I could take it away and looking at me sadly they said ' Please do.'. So if you have a plain lampshade. Just add a bead fringe.and a pretty rose. Fairy pink fringe and a cabbage rose.
