One movie franchise a week (or two), whenever I feel like and about whatever I like. These are my impressions as I watch them. Monday, October 25, 2010. Night of the Living Dead (1968). Something that nowadays seems small but was a big deal at the time was making the rational leader a black man. The movie was made in the late 60s in the height of the equality issue so by making the lead a smart black man is a very forward thinking casting idea that over 40 years later is still underutilized.

Rebooting" his zombie franchise for the current day, George Romero creates an incredibly interesting, if traditionally flat, pairing to his original film.
