Take Action Campaign : Bridging Student Transitions

A major component of the campaign is the connection made with feeder middle schools and colleges. Leadership students are involved in matriculation events at each HS campus, in which incoming eighth graders are brought to their feeder high school to learn about the educational programs offered, get a taste of the campus life, and develop initial contacts with administration, faculty and student body before actually walking on campus as a ninth grader in August or September. 2016 Take Action Campaign.

Not initially, however because the TAC is run through the after school programs, once a student joins the campaign they join the ASP. How much does it cost to students? Take Action Campaign : Celebrating the Arts

Each leadership council designs and facilitates a talent show at their respective school. Students practice during after school hours and on weekends in enrichment clubs with instructors provided as part of the 21st Century Learning Center grant. The winners in categories such as: spoken word, digital media arts, vocals, DJing, instrumentation and dance are selected to perform at the Culmination Event at Paramount Studios. Approximately 2000 students will attend and participate in this annual event.

The TAKE ACTION Leadership Campaign has a specific focus on supporting and promoting civic engagement and social activism. Leadership Councils at each participating school design and facilitate a national anti-tobacco campaign, a Denim Day, a nationwide program combating sexual assault and two TAKE ACTION weeks where students raise awareness for causes important to them, their cultures, schools and communities. 2016 Take Action Campaign.

Take Action Campaign : Training Retreats

The TAC model is one of student ownership. After a week-long kick off camping retreat in August at UniCamp. A facility staffed by UCLA student volunteers, a key group of 10-15 students ( Ambassadors ) from each campus receive an intense one day follow up leadership training in September. 2016 Take Action Campaign.
