Markham Hill cabin 1974. March 1, 1974. Working on a stone foundation for a geodesic dome that will serve as a passive solar greenhouse. Fitting the geodesic dome to the cabin. My plan was to combine the old cabin with the new dome to create a passive solar “greenhouse” that could be used to grow food in the winter as well as provide additional heat on sunny winter days. The room was once a classroom in a historic schoolhouse, built in the 1800’s. I lived in the classroom next door. This was a fabulous place to live and work in the late seventies. October 3, 1982. X-Plore Designs Sculpture Foundry. Pouring bronze into heated ceramic shells. Geodesic pre-heat furnace is hoisted up. Ceramic shells are ready for pour after heating to about 2000 degrees F. The crucible is removed from the furnace when bronze is heated to about 2100 degrees F. Next we lift the pre-heat furnace to pour molten bronze into red-hot ceramic shells. Melting bronze and using a pyrometer to check temperature. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
