Mike Hess' Blog. This is about Mike and his running adventures. Antarctica Training – Day 1 “Think Cold”. Nice easy run this morning. 4.08 miles with an average of 8:18/mile. Very little wind and a bit overcast. The temperature was 72F, just 42 degrees warmer than it will be in Antarctica. I need to find a way to get used to 20 to 30 degree temperatures. Mike Hess' Blog. This is about Mike and his running adventures. Day 3 – Easy Run. There is no such thing as an ‘easy run’. You still have to sacrifice time and effort that you could spend doing other things. It was a much easier run that yesterday. I ran just over 4 miles averaging over an 8 minute mile. Bob’s psychiatrist would tell him to take ‘baby steps.’ Training for a marathon is just a series of ‘baby steps.’ You can’t train for a marathon in just one day.
