A place to find out about what's good for your computing needs. Thursday, June 25, 2009. Have you ever wondered how they make all those amazing graphics on some websites? Seems one of the most popular applications for working with pictures is Adobe Photoshop, and to give credit where it's due, Photoshop is loaded with quality features. But the price. Yikes! Enter your free and equally capable alternative: The GIMP. That has the same menus and keystrokes as its commercial counterpart. Ahead By A Century.
Good Computing: April 2008

A place to find out about what's good for your computing needs. Monday, April 21, 2008. It's All Been Done Before. I'm astonished at the tenacity of Windows users. I'm dismayed at the loyalty of OEM manufacturers, willing to foist Windows upon their unwitting users, all in the name of profit. And made sure it updates itself daily. I also installed SpyBot S&D. And immunized the system right from the start. He asked. He had had the computer less than a week. I examined the new computer for a bit, and found...

For example, you boot your computer one day and instead of your Desktop you are met with the infamous Blue Screen of Death (BSOD):. Might copy all of your files and settings from your old computer to yo...

A place to find out about what's good for your computing needs. Wednesday, July 18, 2012. These ARE The Droids Ive Been Looking For! For a long time now, I've been in love with open source. Every time I start looking around for a new computing tool or discover a new application, I usually find some tie-in to open source. I wonder if it's something like The Secret - "like attracts like" - in that I've been exposed to open source for so long all I see is open source. But I digress, often. My eldest Android...

A place to find out about what's good for your computing needs. Friday, November 14, 2008. I'm Apparently Not A PC. Like Windows Vista, this post has taken far too long to come, and probably won't be worth the wait. Don't worry, I'll do better with my next post. It'll have all the bells and whistles you want, and I'm going to start accepting input about what you'd like in it with this very post. Don't you just end up sounding like a zealot? That's pretty much what mainstream media does to anyone outside ...

A place to find out about what's good for your computing needs. Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Well, unless you've been living in the digital equivalent of a cave for the past little while, you probably know that Windows 7. Has hit the computer scene. Essentially, this is Microsoft's "apology" for foisting Vista. Personally, I tend to think Apple has a better perspective on this: Windows 7 is probably just another " Trust me, it'll be different this time. Face it, Apple is expensive stuff. Codenamed "Karmi...

Science with Mr. Copil
Science with Mr. Copil. Friday, April 4, 2014. Grape indicator - made by Suyeon. Suyeon accepted one of the challenges for the Acids and Alkalis unit and made her own indicator at home. She took photos of each step and presented her work today in the Science lesson. Well done Suyeon! Step 1 - remove the grape peel from black grapes (the darker the colour, the more dye we can obtain). Step 2 - cut the peels in small bits, so that we can extract more dye out of them. Step 3 - add hot water and mix well.
