The Happenings of Us: May 2009

Sunday, May 24, 2009. Those who stand and wait. There's a quote by John Milton, "They also serve who only stand and wait." He wrote this for a different reason than it's recent use. Lately it's been seen in connection with military families. The country artist wrote a song about it:. They also serve,. Those who stand and wait,. Praying by the phone. To learn their loved one's fate. But they're still in the war,. Let there be no mistake. They also serve,. Those who stand and wait.". Do I leave my husband?

The Happenings of Us: La Vie Boheme continued...
http://stacy-aka-sl.blogspot.com/2009/09/la-vie-boheme-continued.html
Sunday, September 13, 2009. La Vie Boheme continued. I left off at lunchtime. Our tour guide Pavlina took us to have traditional Czech food. Pork and dumplings (boiled bread). Next was the famous Charles Bridg. King Charles and my own Charles (right before entering bridge). The cross of St John that we touched. Next we headed to the tram to go to the Prague Castle. It is the biggest in the world. We saw the changing of the guards. I cant believe how big Charlie has gotten. Wow! The Happenings of Us.

The Happenings of Us: Christmas is merry, indeed!
http://stacy-aka-sl.blogspot.com/2009/12/christmas-is-merry-indeed.html
Friday, December 25, 2009. Christmas is merry, indeed! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Winter and Merry Festivus. ;). Well, unless you're at the beginning of the deployment then earlier is not better LOL). Also, please remember our deployed military members and their families as they are separated this Christmas. Until you've been in their shoes (as we were Christmas of '04 when my hubby was in Iraq) then you can't know or understand the heartache. God Bless our military!

Not Dead Yet: Homework Hell
http://www.momsnotdeadyet.com/2008/10/homework-hell.html
Wednesday, October 15, 2008. I can't remember if I've talked about this before, but we have major issues with The Girl and homework. As in, she hates to do it and we have to make her. I know this probably doesn't sound unfamiliar to a lot of you, but trust me when I say our problem is a lot worse than most. A lot worse. Let me give you a basic break down. The short version, if you will. This started in kindergarten. She'd bring her homework home and then offer it to the dog and/or cat. In fifth grade we ...

Not Dead Yet: Finally - Progress!
http://www.momsnotdeadyet.com/2008/12/finally-progress.html
Monday, December 8, 2008. Remember how I told you about the Homework Hell. I've been living in? I think we may have finally made some progress - both with Little Man and The Girl. We had parent teacher conferences this week and we were pleasantly surprised. Ok, I'm not gonna lie, the truth is we were downright shocked, shocked. To see The Girl's report card and hear what her teacher had to say. Not one bad mark. Not.A.Single.One. The one bright spot with him? Little Man got a Reading Award, which is real...

Not Dead Yet: The Little Parent
http://www.momsnotdeadyet.com/2010/04/little-parent.html
Thursday, April 15, 2010. Every morning my SIL drops her daughter off at our house on her way to work. She has to be to work at 7 but the bus doesn't come until 8:15. Since they (the niece and LM) go to the same school, it makes sense for her to come here for an hour every morning, then walk to the bus stop with LM. Yesterday morning they were at the breakfast table together and I overheard the following. It totally cracked me up. 7yo: Can I please be excused? This said to LM, not me). 7yo: I just did!
