Running to stand still

Running to stand still. Sunday, 8 January 2017. Make a plan and then stick to it! Today was my first visit to Hayling Island. It is always slightly worrying not to be able to see anything at the other end of a bridge, and this was exactly what happened as I drove onto the bridge over to Hayling Island. It wasn't even a long bridge - but all I could see in front of me was mist! I hadn't thought too much about where this race was located when I booked it. The guys at On the Whistle. But I did. Running to stand still: March 2016

http://mrsbridgewater.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html

Running to stand still. Sunday, 13 March 2016. My nose ran well! I can't remember why I entered the Larmer Tree Races. After a week that involved Ofsted. And me catching a cold from one or more of the sniffly boys at school - not good to be sneezing when one's cracked and dislocated ribs have not fully healed - my friend (still sensibly signed up for the half) and I got up at sparrow fart for a journey down to Larmer Tree Gardens. And then it was my turn. The first mile or two felt as though it was all d...

Running to stand still: June 2016

http://mrsbridgewater.blogspot.com/2016_06_01_archive.html

Running to stand still. Sunday, 26 June 2016. Hills, medals, cakes, hills and bells. oh and more hills! This is the race I said I'd never do again. It was the first trail marathon. I had ever run and I swore it would be my last. So why was I back in Sidling St Nicholas? Because I seem to be suffering a case of runner's amnesia! Friday night traffic meant we just made it to the village hall in time for our pre-ordered meals cooked by the lovely ladies from the WI. I had no real 'plan' for this race. I...

Running to stand still. Monday, 30 May 2016. The one where I started too fast and just kept going. So, what does one do after r unning a marathon. Rest, get a massage, eat all the food in the county? Most people (me included) still seem to be calling it by its old name! After a beautifully warm day yesterday, with no running (don't Sunday's seem very long with no running and no prep work for school the next day? And there was loo roll! The day was looking up! The lovely Caz being photo bummed. So I did, ...

Running to stand still: On accidental first marathons and irresponsible dog owners.

http://mrsbridgewater.blogspot.com/2016/11/on-accidental-first-marathons-and.html

Running to stand still. Sunday, 27 November 2016. On accidental first marathons and irresponsible dog owners. Okay, so who was taking bets on me falling over during today's race? Who had a side bet that it would happen within the first mile and involve man's best friend? If you had money on this you'd have made out like a bandit today! Husbando made smutty comments about hoses and horns - he obviously wasn't working hard enough! After you've faffed at the aid station for a few minutes, eaten sugar laden ...

The Byrne House: October 2010

http://the-byrne-house.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Postcards from a British family living near Paris. Thursday, 28 October 2010. Single Motherdom Day 1. I had forgotten how hard it is being your child's only source of human entertainment! To be fair Alex is very good at entertaining himself, with the help of the Wii, the PC and the television (wall to wall Horrid Henry anyone? But he is definitely missing Kieran and has already started drawing pictures for him. Travelling into Paris at night with a 7 year old who thinks he's Buzz Lightyear is interesting...

The Byrne House: Looking back, and forwards

http://the-byrne-house.blogspot.com/2012/02/looking-back-and-forwards.html

Postcards from a British family living near Paris. Wednesday, 1 February 2012. Looking back, and forwards. People keep asking me what I'll miss about France and what I'm looking forward to about moving back to the UK. I'm sure that once I'm back I'll find that I miss many more things but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head:. Coffee in L'Avenue on a Wednesday morning with the school-gate mums, where the waiter brings my coffee without me ordering it. Cemetary; The Basilica of St Denis.

Confessions of a Marathon Runner: The Vitruvian Triathlon

http://jennapickering.blogspot.com/2014/10/the-vitruvian-triathlon.html

Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Wednesday, 22 October 2014. I think I owe my readers an update - it's about time! Things have been really busy lately so not got round to updating as much as I'd have liked, so got quite a lot to catch up on! And had a good mix of standards (i.e. slow ones at the back like me). There was a really odd bit were we had to get out of the water half way round, run (stagger) back through the start line, and then...

Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Friday, 30 May 2014. MK and Liverpool Marathons done! Ok, been a while since my last post, but that's not to say I haven't been busy! I've done 4 marathons so far this spring, and tomorrow is my final one of the streak - the Kent Roadrunner Marathon. It's 17 laps of a cycling race track, I have no idea how I will cope with this but I will be picturing the medal at the end! Since I have a lot of half's comi...

Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Friday, 1 March 2013. Varied week of training and some Tunnel! Having recovered from Saturday's long run, I was able to go out for a recovery run at lunchtime with Matt and do a swim session with Tri-Force in the evening. The swim session was really useful as my technique had picked up a random bad habit with my arms which I quickly sorted out! Great fun and well well, got a few bruises to show for it!

Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Thursday, 17 April 2014. London Marathon 2014 Race Report. Part two - The Race. Got the first train from St Albans, and there were already other runners waiting there! I chatted to a few of them – all very sociable for 6.50am! It was only about 8.30am, so I killed time by sorting my gear out, phoning my parents to see where they planned to watch me, queuing for the loos (very long queues as normal! Plus ev...

Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Tuesday, 11 February 2014. Last Sunday I did the Watford Half Marathon – which I remembered from last year was very hilly! I hadn’t ever been so nervous before a half marathon, as my long run times had all been at marathon training pace and my tempo runs had not been anywhere near 13.1 miles. So this was definitely going to be a training run, I was not out to race it! I started to drift away from the pacer...

I’m looking forward to it so much! I think I’m there, and done everything I can do – the only things that are worrying me slightly is a) what to wear (I always have this worry! And b) Acclimatising to the spring weather since I’ve been training all winter and only now is it getting warm. Anyway, on Sunday 23.

Skyridge - Math with Mrs. Buckley. Who is Mrs. Buckley? Need Help - checkout these websites. I read of a man who stood to speak. At the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone. From the beginning to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth. And spoke of the following date with tears,. But he said what mattered most of all. Was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time. That she spent alive on earth. And now only those who loved her.

Mrs. Briggs' Class

Thursday, May 8, 2014. Spring Has Gone and Sprung! The end of the year is looming closely and we have been extremely busy with spring and all the activities that come with this wonderful time of year! Here are a few of the quick highlights! The first thing we did was investigate three different kind of seeds. We looked at a kidney bean, sunflower seeds, and a pea. We wrote in our journals about what we noticed and then as a whole group we looked at the inside of a seed and labeled the parts. Anyways - Ou...
