The Byrne House: October 2010
http://the-byrne-house.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Postcards from a British family living near Paris. Thursday, 28 October 2010. Single Motherdom Day 1. I had forgotten how hard it is being your child's only source of human entertainment! To be fair Alex is very good at entertaining himself, with the help of the Wii, the PC and the television (wall to wall Horrid Henry anyone? But he is definitely missing Kieran and has already started drawing pictures for him. Travelling into Paris at night with a 7 year old who thinks he's Buzz Lightyear is interesting...

The Byrne House: Looking back, and forwards
http://the-byrne-house.blogspot.com/2012/02/looking-back-and-forwards.html
Postcards from a British family living near Paris. Wednesday, 1 February 2012. Looking back, and forwards. People keep asking me what I'll miss about France and what I'm looking forward to about moving back to the UK. I'm sure that once I'm back I'll find that I miss many more things but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head:. Coffee in L'Avenue on a Wednesday morning with the school-gate mums, where the waiter brings my coffee without me ordering it. Cemetary; The Basilica of St Denis.

Confessions of a Marathon Runner: The Vitruvian Triathlon

Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Wednesday, 22 October 2014. I think I owe my readers an update - it's about time! Things have been really busy lately so not got round to updating as much as I'd have liked, so got quite a lot to catch up on! And had a good mix of standards (i.e. slow ones at the back like me). There was a really odd bit were we had to get out of the water half way round, run (stagger) back through the start line, and then...

Confessions of a Marathon Runner: May 2014

Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Friday, 30 May 2014. MK and Liverpool Marathons done! Ok, been a while since my last post, but that's not to say I haven't been busy! I've done 4 marathons so far this spring, and tomorrow is my final one of the streak - the Kent Roadrunner Marathon. It's 17 laps of a cycling race track, I have no idea how I will cope with this but I will be picturing the medal at the end! Since I have a lot of half's comi...

Confessions of a Marathon Runner: Varied week of training and some Tunnel!

Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Friday, 1 March 2013. Varied week of training and some Tunnel! Having recovered from Saturday's long run, I was able to go out for a recovery run at lunchtime with Matt and do a swim session with Tri-Force in the evening. The swim session was really useful as my technique had picked up a random bad habit with my arms which I quickly sorted out! Great fun and well well, got a few bruises to show for it!

Confessions of a Marathon Runner: April 2014
http://jennapickering.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Thursday, 17 April 2014. London Marathon 2014 Race Report. Part two - The Race. Got the first train from St Albans, and there were already other runners waiting there! I chatted to a few of them – all very sociable for 6.50am! It was only about 8.30am, so I killed time by sorting my gear out, phoning my parents to see where they planned to watch me, queuing for the loos (very long queues as normal! Plus ev...

Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Tuesday, 11 February 2014. Last Sunday I did the Watford Half Marathon – which I remembered from last year was very hilly! I hadn’t ever been so nervous before a half marathon, as my long run times had all been at marathon training pace and my tempo runs had not been anywhere near 13.1 miles. So this was definitely going to be a training run, I was not out to race it! I started to drift away from the pacer...

Confessions of a Marathon Runner. 10 marathons before I hit 30 = the Marathon Grand Slam Challenge! Monday, 24 March 2014. I really can’t believe it’s less than two weeks til the Brighton Marathon! I’m looking forward to it so much! I think I’m there, and done everything I can do – the only things that are worrying me slightly is a) what to wear (I always have this worry! And b) Acclimatising to the spring weather since I’ve been training all winter and only now is it getting warm. Anyway, on Sunday 23.
