Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Today in class we celebrated. Earth Day by wearing green, reading about recycling and doing a fun activity. Each student brought in a regular household item that they would normally. Throw away and used their imagination to create something they could use. Thursday, December 18, 2008. Field Trip to the Rescue Mission. On December 11, we took a trip to the Kokomo. We had a tour of the facility and got to see first hand how much time and money it takes to keep the place running. We also decorated the cafeteria where we got to experience what it is like to eat there. We also donated. Four boxes of food to the shelter. We had a great time and learned so much. What a great learning experience! Wow, we looked great and did a fabulous job singing! 5 A R points!

Saturday, January 31, 2009. Look at the readers who have 5 A.R.points this week! Mrs Irwin is very proud of what great readers you are becoming in second grade! Keep up the great work, I am very proud of all of you! Here we are working. Friday, January 23, 2009. In celebration of the 100 th. Day of school, clowns from Miles of Smiles came to visit us. The kids had a lot of fun. Look real close and you will see that two of our kids were choosen out of the crowd to participate. What fun!

Thursday, February 26, 2009. A Pie In The Face! All I can say is WOW! Our school did such an awesome job with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fund raiser. Our school raised $1201! Thank you for all of your generosity and support. Our class came in first place with the amount of money raised. We bought seven pies to put on our student. Council member. Our school even raised. Enough money to put a pie in Mr. Willman's. Working hard in math class! Name under which vegetables. Keep up the hard work reading.

The children came up to the board and wrote their. Name under which vegetables. They preferred. We then discussed how many liked which vegetables and collected information from our chart. Thursday, May 14, 2009. On Friday, May 8 th. The students participated in a Walk a thon. Here at school. All of the Howard students raised $4500 for the PTO. This money will be distributed between the teachers next year to use in their classroom for their students. Our class walked for a half an hour and then were treated to an ice cream bar and water. Monday, September 29, 2008. We have green thumbs! We planted our apple seeds. And are keeping a journal of our observations. Hopefully we will have a couple of trees start growing for us. We are even learning how to cook in school. We made homemade applesauce. It was so yummy! Sunday, September 28, 2008. We had so much fun doing centers. We cooked, painted, played on the computers, and had fun games. Who knew you could do so much educational stuff with apples. Thanks for a great week!

Sunday, September 7, 2014. 5 Little vowel boys. Each day the students learn the sounds and how to write a letter of the alphabet. They sing a consonant song for all the consonants. However, when it is a vowel day, they get to put on the vowel puppets and we sing the vowel song. 5 Little vowel boys. are we. There's A and O and I and E. There's another brother too. Mrs. Stites' first grade class: M & M's graphing project

Sunday, September 7, 2014. M and M's graphing project. Each child received a cup of M and M's. The estimated how many M and M's were in the cup. Then they counted the M and M's. Next, they sorted the M and M's by color. Then the boys and girls. Graphed the results on a color chart graph. We compared results. And last. they got to EAT the M and M's. What a yummy way to learn!
