Touched by a Rose: December 2010
http://touchedbyarose.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Touched by a Rose. Tuesday, December 28, 2010. Guilt with a Side of Nightmares. I am constantly thinking about this and constantly wondering if my instructional strategies are helpful or harmful in the long run. I care so much about what I am doing, but is what I am doing right? Is there a right way to teach? I stay after school sometimes and am nearly in tears thinking of what I didn't. Posted by Nicole Harrington. Touched by a Rose: I'm lovin' it :)
http://touchedbyarose.blogspot.com/2011/09/im-lovin-it.html
Touched by a Rose. Friday, September 9, 2011. I'm lovin' it :). First off, I'm sorry I haven't posted anymore pictures of my classroom since the last time I blogged! I have been crazed with the start of the school year. I must say, though, that the little ones who walked through my door this year are already leaving an imprint on my heart (and, at times, my sanity). I was nervous having other educators in my room. After all, it is only my second year! There were a couple first year teachers who were enth...

Touched by a Rose. Sunday, October 17, 2010. Personal Space and Comfortable Bubbles. This is a copy of a blog post I put on my class website about a lesson I taught on personal space in my kindergarten class:. You may have heard your child mention "popping bubbles" this week and wondered, "What in the world is he talking about? Well, I'm here to share the knowledge of personal space and comfortable bubbles with you. Just like I have shared it with the children. We can do it. Posted by Nicole Harrington.

Touched by a Rose: August 2010
http://touchedbyarose.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Touched by a Rose. Monday, August 23, 2010. The Highly Anticipated First Day. Yikes That's all I have to say. It's amazing to me that the first day of school can cause me to feel so many varied emotions. First, I was nervous. Then, excited.and then nervous and terrified all at once. I think that was to be expected because it was my first. Teacher present in the room. Not much has changed one year later. Well, actually, a lot. Now, back to the first day. It took me about half of the day to realize that I ...

Touched by a Rose: October 2011
http://touchedbyarose.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Touched by a Rose. Thursday, October 13, 2011. Voice and Choice :). I listen to my colleagues and then my heart starts racing with endless possibilities. I start reflecting on my own practice and wondering, "Am I doing enough? Should I add what they are saying into my personal curriculum? I wind up going back to my classroom and become anxious thinking about the days ahead. If a colleague seems to be running literacy centers so smoothly, shouldn't I try to model myself after her? It's time to change!

Touched by a Rose: March 2011
http://touchedbyarose.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Touched by a Rose. Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Try, try again. I try so many "agains" that I wind up placing the blame entirely on myself when my students are not learning something. If I could describe my brain to an outsider, I would use the phrase "topsy turvy." My brain is constantly firing new thoughts, new teaching ideas, and new reflections on things that didn't go quite as planned. My brain never turns off. Therefore, I am never done criticizing myself. I want. My students to succeed. I want.

Touched by a Rose: The Power of Why
http://touchedbyarose.blogspot.com/2012/04/power-of-why.html
Touched by a Rose. Wednesday, April 4, 2012. The Power of Why. This is a journal entry I made on my classroom website:. When I was a little girl, my favorite question to ask my parents was "why? Although we may often forget how little children know, we also make life a little too easy for them to figure out. They ask us why the grass grows and we give them a simple answer about seeds needing sun and water to thrive. They ask us why it rains and we tell them a story about gray skies and clouds wor...What ...
