Thursday, August 26, 2004. Observations of The Danes No 0.1:. I have noticed that when I am talking to my Danish supervisor and I say something a little surprising (not hugely like I have three knobs but in a technical context) he breathes in sharply for a small duration, which is clearly audible. I thought it was just my supervisor but when talking to other Danes and "listening" (the obviously speak in Danish which sounds like "huerdy-guerdy-buerdy" to me) to other conversations some of them do it too.

Wednesday, March 30, 2005. Today I had an interview with Agilent Technologies UK Ltd. At their R&D centre over in South Queensferry (right next to the Forth Road Bridge). My dad was kind enough to drive me there in the morning and come pick me up, which saved a lot of time and hassle getting the train. I will be starting my new career as an Assistant Registrar at Wolfson College, one of Cambridge University's colleges, in September. Only 1 month to go! I went for 3 interviews and got offered the above role. It is great: great college, great pay (I wont say how much, but it is nearly 5000 pounds a year more than I currently make;)! Cycling along the river is something I look forward to, and maybe learning how to punt also.
