Just another WordPress.com site. March 5, 2011. Geometry 3-C-2 Logic and Reasoning. What was the most valuable information/activity in this module? I think the most valuable information in this module was encouraging students to think deeply. Many students just think on the surface and never hit the deep layers of understanding. Why did you find it to be so valuable? Students need to have a deep understanding because it will help them to understand later topics! Why or why not? March 5, 2011. 1 8=9 2 4 =6.

Just another WordPress.com site. March 20, 2011. Geometry 5-B-1 Understanding Reflectional Symmetry. I think this activity is a great activity to show students the when a shape is reflected across the x and y axis, it is still congruent to the original shape. The shape and size are still the same! Just another WordPress.com site. March 19, 2011. Geometry- Exploring Dilations – 5-D-1. Describe in detail how you would present this activity to your students. Anticipate the questions you might ask students during this activity. What type of prompting questions would you ask during this activity? I would ask my students these questions: What do you think will happen when we plot our new coordinates? What do you know about the new shape and the old shape? What is the same? What is the difference? Multip...
7-B-2 Archimedean Solids | mrspearson
https://mrspearson.wordpress.com/2011/04/02/7-b-2-archimedean-solids
Just another WordPress.com site. April 2, 2011. What shapes did you start out with? What were the shapes after you truncated them? I first started with a cube. When I truncated it, it became a truncated cube. The second shape I started with was a tetrahedron and it became a truncated tetrahedron. How can you set up this type of activity for your students? Do you think this is an activity that students will enjoy? Why do you think this is the case? I think students would enjoy an activity like this! Cards...

Just another WordPress.com site. March 28, 2011. 6-C-2 Higher Level Thinking Questions for the Pythagorean Theorem. Higher Level Thinking Questions for the Pythagorean Theorem and Related Concepts. What level(s) of Bloom’s Taxonomy most closely align with the level(s) of the van Hiele Model? Level 0, concrete is closely aligned to knowledge and understanding because it is a basic level of asking about shapes where they name, identify, compare, classify, describe etc. I can help students progress from one...

GEOOL 7-B-2—Achimedean Solids | ericcroll
https://ericcroll.wordpress.com/2011/04/02/geool-7-b-2-achimedean-solids
Just another WordPress.com site. April 2, 2011. GEOOL 7-B-2—Achimedean Solids. Is a solid with 32 faces (12 pentagons and 20 hexagons), 90 edges, and 60 vertices. The cuboctahedron was probably easy enough to assign this to my students however, anything more than that would likely become more burdensome than it would be worth. I definitely like the idea of having them create the platonic solids, but moving up to the Archimedean solids is just too much. April 2nd, 2011 at 7:42 pm. Enter your comment here.

Just another WordPress.com site. March 16, 2011. GEOOL 5-D-1—Exploring Dilations. This is the kind of activity that would spark questions in my mind as it takes place, and probably based on what I deem to be student interest at the moment, but some that I’m thinking of as I write this are: What do you think the new shape will look like? Will it be the same? Will it be bigger? Will it be farther from the origin? What kind of transformation will it be? Will the sides get longer? Will their slopes change?
Factoring in My Own Words | baileysmath
https://baileysmath.wordpress.com/2011/03/04/factoring-in-my-own-words
Just another WordPress.com site. Factoring in My Own Words. Factoring the Tic Ta. X2 – 6x 8. In box 1, -6 from -6x goes in far right box, 8 from 8 goes in box 2. Multiple 1 x 8 to get 8. Put in the box 3. Think of a way that two numbers will multiple to equal 8 but add up to 6. (-2, -4). Put results in boxes 6 and 10. Now divide down. Box 1 divided by box 4. And box 2 divided by box 5. 1/1 = 1 so I put that in box 8. 8/-2 = -4 so I put that in box 9. I then take the terms in box 4 and box 9. (1x 4).

Just another WordPress.com site. I will only continue to use the blog because I am taking another PLS course and it is part of the course work. I do not know many people who blog. I think it is a great idea that could be used with students to post vocabulary and reflect on other people’s assignments, but we lack the technology availability in our school at this time.
