March 17, 2014. Today marks 4 years since Ian got diagnosed with diabetes. Let me take you back to that dreadful day, though if you want more detail, you will have to go to my blog posts from March 2010. So….what do I remember? I remember knowing that he had all the symptoms, but dreading taking him to the doctor. I remember the pediatrician’s face when she walked in to the room to tell me his blood sugar was at 308. A number I’ll never forget. I remember crying with my husband on the way to the hospital.

Rivas Family 2013 Year in Review. February 24, 2014. Last Tuesday we had our appointment with the endocrinologist. It’s funny how we’ve had around 15 of these and I am never relaxed enough for them. I can only relax when they’re over. Aside, from finding out that Ian is doing really well with controlled blood sugar and growth, here’s what’s up in our Type 1 Diabetes world. Thursday, May 24, 2012. A House of Our Own! Here we are the same night we closed on our house! Excited, scared, excited, thankful and overwhelmed. Arriving from Europe, on the next day, this is what awaited us. After a year and a half of house searching and waiting for 4 months to hear from the short sale.the moment had finally arrived. Sunday, March 31, 2013. Antique to white bedroom doors! I have an amazing husband, who even though is not very handy, never says no and gives all the house projects a try! All the bedroom and bathroom doors were painted an antique glossy finish. My husband sanded each door and then painted it white! The doors look brand new and we saved money. What a difference! Saturday, April 27, 2013. 9 pounds - lost 3pounds first trimester and then gained those pounds back and 6 more. Back aches and low pelvic pressure mainly at night - wearing my belly support band. I asked atleast 10 times how long they thought she would be there. They guessed around her due date Feb 11th. That was so long. The hospital was so far away from home.
