Lu's Place
http://mrsfrenchie1.blogspot.com/p/nostalgia-is-word-that-brings-to-mind.html
Nostalgia is a word that brings to mind several different emotions. Those of you that have read some of my posts can see that most of them make you smile. They are about my children when they are little; anything from streaking to stealing raspberries. The other day I was cleaning the outside of the cupboards and some woodwork going into the kitchen from the living room. I could just hear my little one saying, “measure me daddy, measure me daddy. I think I am getting bigger.”. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Three Generations of Aprons. When I was a child I can remember my mother criticising my grandma for patching the "stomach" of her apron. Then my grandma made beautiful crosstich aprons that just went around her waist and she embroidered the tiny blocks every other one with white thread. I still have one or two. Most of you know, I worked in long term care facilities.for almost twenty years. All of us were always concerned about our folks's dignity. Tuesday, August 06, 2013. I'm a...

http://mrsfrenchie1.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 28, 2015. We have talked a lot about a lot of things. Some of which are dry, statistics, however, they were important to note of the early settlers. Today we are going to talk about Indian Troubles, of which one of my ancestors had some interaction years and years ago. Remember again, please that the words I type are the words that I am reading from this old old encyclopedia. Saturday, March 28, 2015. Thursday, March 26, 2015. These Normals have always been well attended and admirably con...

Lu's Place: Educational
http://mrsfrenchie1.blogspot.com/2015/02/educational.html
Friday, February 27, 2015. This next post to me, is hysterical. I am going to stereotype for a minute, but in my mind's eye I see a sweet tiny lady with a bun on the top of her head, a pencil behind her ear, a high neck long sleeve blouse and a long dress. I can almost smell the ink in the presses and see the old wooden floors. Ok, from now on, I am going to show quotes from the book exactly how the author says them. You, I am sure, will love this. Now remember, this is an encyclopedia. To Move or Not to...

Lu's Place: September 2012
http://mrsfrenchie1.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 13, 2012. About thirty some years ago my sister-in-law and I loaded up a bushel or two of apples and took them to Sioux City, Iowa to my mother's house. Why? You guessed it. For an extra pair of hands, of course. Also for some expert advice. My mom made pies that looked nicer than those you would win in a blue ribbon contest. She did so effortlessly. When the pies were done, they were not baked, but made of raw dough and piled high with raw apples. All went well until I got home.

Sunday, August 5, 2012. Fran missed the news this morning. Our house is like a mental health facility. He is "surfing" and muttering and mumbling about no news."I can't find it anywhere! He is going to have callouses on his thumbs. He is going up and down so fast there is no way he can read what the movie is all about. I don't help matters any by saying,"I have no idea why you want to watch the news, it is the same old junk they have every day; politics and politics.". Sunday, August 05, 2012.

Sunday, November 18, 2012. Mother's Helper For Table Decorating. When I was a very little girl, I loved to help my mom; Probably more, in fact than she would have liked when she was having company. I think I have posted about the ladies coming to visit that mom called, "club ladies.". My parents were very poor, but that did not keep my mother from entertaining with style. Another wonderful memory that has been hidden away for over sixty years. Sunday, November 18, 2012. Saturday, November 10, 2012. Howev...

Friday, January 25, 2013. Giggles At The Grocery Store. Well, I have never had so much fun buying groceries as I did this morning. First of all I forgot my glasses on the table by my chair. Second of all, I made a sharp turn towards the sun making it virtually impossible to see ANYTHING! Third thing, unbeknownst to me, silly stocking folks had put up a very flimsy display of jello that jumped out in front of my shopping cart. Friday, January 25, 2013. Monday, January 14, 2013. It seems the older I get, t...

Lu's Place: Political
http://mrsfrenchie1.blogspot.com/2015/02/political.html
Monday, February 23, 2015. It is so good to be back. On my second cup of coffee, all propped up on my chair, ready to go. Today's topic is fun. Especially the way the "book" phrases everything. There is an excitement about a political campaign which nearly every American citizen rather enjoys, and although personalities are often indulged in, as a general thing all yield gracefully to the verdict of the people, a majority vote, and submit themselves to the "powers that be". I can't help but think of all ...
