The first three days in Rio the weather was not great and I did not make sense to visit the two famous elevated sights of Rio, namely the world-famous statue of Christo Redentor standing with his arms outstretched atop Corcovado; and Sugar Loaf which has great views over the bay areas. Fortunately enough, the weather forecast promised some sunshine on my last day. Favela in the mountains over Rio.

The week before heading to Rio, I discussed my travel plans with Robert, my colleague who has been to Rio on several occasions. I asked for tips on what to do and one idea got stuck in my head… Hanggliding! As I wanted to do something a bit different from the normal tourist experience of Copacabana, Sugar Loaf and Corvocado, this sounded like a great idea. Paulo’s Jeep at the Tijuca National Park.
