Messing about in the kitchen
M(i)s Ch(i)ef™: February 2013
http://mschefkitchen.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Messing about in the kitchen. Monday, February 18, 2013. When I heard of the License to Chill Sweet Adventures Blog Hop hosted by the Kitchen Crusader. I was really excited because one of my favourite kitchen appliances is our ice cream maker. I was thinking of all the different flavours of ice cream that I am still to make.hmmm. rum and raisin. rocky road.ZUPPA INGLESE! 1 vanilla pod (I used 1 teaspoon of Queen Vanilla Bean Paste. Instead of the real thing). 125 ml Pipeclay Tawny Port. Whisk it all toge...

http://mschefkitchen.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Messing about in the kitchen. Monday, July 28, 2014. Bun in the Oven. Food blogging has kind of taken a back seat this year, although I'm trying to put up at least one post a month. Well, it's all for a good cause because this MsChef has been up to mischief and. Our baby announcement in cupcakes! So it will be a whole different kind of blog come October - more puree than gourmet! But lots of fun to come! Posted by Michelle E. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Please subscribe to my emails. M(i)s Ch(i)ef™: November 2013
http://mschefkitchen.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Messing about in the kitchen. Monday, November 18, 2013. White Chocolate Mojito Cheesecake. I haven't joined the SABH hop for a while as I'm trying to cut down on the desserts that I was preparing, and even monthly was getting a bit too much for our waistlines but I thought, given the theme, I would hop back in! It was time to try a different variety that's been on my list of recipes to try for ages (since I saw the recipe in Delicious Magazine in November 2009! Juice and zest of 3 limes. Bring sugar and...
M(i)s Ch(i)ef™: April 2013
http://mschefkitchen.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Messing about in the kitchen. Thursday, April 25, 2013. I am not normally a big crab eater. I love the taste, so am happy to use crab meat in recipes and munch on a soft shell crab sushi roll or crab cakes but for a full crab in it's shell I really have to be in the mood for the fuss. Recently when in the US, the Boiling Crab Restaurant. Oh, the irony! Of all places to be arriving in a limo. From the sublime to the ridiculous! Crab in the bag! Fabulous crab in a fun place where I didn't mind the fuss!
M(i)s Ch(i)ef™: March 2013
http://mschefkitchen.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Messing about in the kitchen. Thursday, March 21, 2013. I was looking for a simple cocktail dessert to go with a Jamie's 30 Minute Meal I was preparing and went back to my (late) childhood to a dessert I remember my parents making. It's a quick an easy recipe - perfect for the 30 minute meal concept and I've no idea where it came from, but I've suitably adapted it from the original! And is inspired not only by my childhood, but my hubbie's recipe for the Toblerone creamy cocktail! If there is excess liqu...

Musings Of Taste: A Drink Perhaps?
http://musingsoftaste.blogspot.com/2012/03/drink-perhaps.html
Wednesday, 7 March 2012. Most things in life, even the supposed minutiae and extras like writing a blog, require discipline. I could say that my various other life strands intervened, but this would negate the fact that I should have just made and set aside time to post and create material. Tasted May 2009) Adelaide Hills, South Australia. Your thinking thin if your not careful before you start. Anyway after breathing the wine thickens out; the nose is tarry, resinous and quite intense along with som...
Musings Of Taste: Extreme Refreshment
http://musingsoftaste.blogspot.com/2013/12/extreme-refreshment.html
Saturday, 21 December 2013. Sniffling and coughing away as I write this note, at least it will remind me of the aroma and taste of wine. No one likes a cold, but in the summer heat and being unable to taste properly I really hate it. The upshot is the chance to write up some jottings, of which this is one. It seems the winemaker is deft as ever, really approachable and easy to enjoy with hidden depths. 11.5% alcohol is also a big plus in the warm weather. 91. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Musings Of Taste: Sweet In The Evening
http://musingsoftaste.blogspot.com/2013/12/sweet-in-evening.html
Monday, 9 December 2013. Sweet In The Evening. Strawberry Lemon Brulee Tart. I thought it looked rather alright, despite the rustic photo! It was decided I would attempt a sweet pastry dessert, recipes were perused examined and discarded; it's hard to decide what to make you know and always advisable to get a sense of the prevailing taste of your audience. Chocolate, baked ricotta and fruit tart were considered, but in the end you just can't go past a Creme anglaise right! For a first go I'm pretty pleas...

Musings Of Taste: d'Arenberg “The Stump Jump” GSM 2009
http://musingsoftaste.blogspot.com/2011/07/darenberg-stump-jump-gsm-2009.html
Sunday, 3 July 2011. D'Arenberg “The Stump Jump” GSM 2009. D'Arenberg are one of Australia's finest producers, Still, it's reassuring and pleasing to find nice wines like this at $10 or less. It's not a complicated, but that's a good thing, rather it's honest and tasty stuff. The most surprising thing I have to say prompted by this wine? Go buy a decanter if you don't possess one already! Drinkability indicated by the amount already gone. 65279;. 18 December 2011 at 14:27. Had the gsm tonight at Bonef...
Musings Of Taste: Breakfast Variations For All Occasions, Or BLT Bliss, nom nom nom!
http://musingsoftaste.blogspot.com/2011/11/breakfast-variations-for-all-occasions.html
Tuesday, 29 November 2011. Breakfast Variations For All Occasions, Or BLT Bliss, nom nom nom! So in the interest of continued diversification and variety here's another first. We seem to be having a few, but then these are such exciting times! I think this is something along those lines. I confess it's only really a stack/pile because I opted for the open sandwich idea, keep that to yourselves though. Suprisingly I took the photo. So to the recipe. Tomato (I repeat the above statement). On the toast arra...
Musings Of Taste: A Jaunt To The Southern Highlands
http://musingsoftaste.blogspot.com/2012/07/a-jaunt-to-southern-highlands.html
Wednesday, 18 July 2012. A Jaunt To The Southern Highlands. So I had a brief little sojourn to the Southern Highlands early last week. Some wine tasting, touring and eating was done, all in all a pleasant way to pass the time. The start wasn't all that auspicious however as after the 1.5hr burn down the freeway from Sydney, we arrived at our first port of call only to find it not open! I was keen to visit St Maur Wines. Chris, with one of the staff out front. Al meets grand ch â. Without giving notes on ...
Musings Of Taste: Ossobuco alla Sydney
http://musingsoftaste.blogspot.com/2011/08/ossobuco-alla-sydney.html
Sunday, 14 August 2011. Well this is definitely one of my favourite dishes for winter. It's rich, tasty and satisfying, with the best part being the ease of preparation. For this edition of the dish I had a collaborator, with my brother joining the fray. Full credit must go to him for the delicious mash we served with the meat and broth! We improvised the recipe really, don't all the best rustic Italian farmhouse cooks? Ossobuco pieces, dusted in flour (as many as you need, 1 per serve). Cumin ½ tsp.
Musings Of Taste: The Return
http://musingsoftaste.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-return.html
Saturday, 13 October 2012. This entry is so titled as I have been neglecting my poor blog, it has been over two months since the previous post. I am just too naughty and slack, although there has been a lot going on, so it's not all my fault! To get moving again I have a really simple recipe that turned out to be a little more special. Veal, thin pieces. Flour, to dust. Garlic, 2 large cloves. Onion, ½. Dash of Cinzano Rosso. Put this pan aside and throw the prosciutto slices in to warm. At this poin...
Musings Of Taste: Recooked Ricotta
http://musingsoftaste.blogspot.com/2014/02/recooked-ricotta.html
Monday, 24 February 2014. Bad puns for titles aside, this really is a cooked ricotta dish with the cheese being the major component of the dish. In Italian ricotta literally means recooked and the cheese is made using the remaining waste liquid from the hard cheese making process. Heated and "recooked" with some acidification, the resulting soft curds are strained off and drained, there you have it, ricotta. 480g (2 cups) fresh ricotta. 110g (1/2 cup) caster sugar. 60ml (1/4 cup) thickened cream. It's go...
