Something Indescribable: Cardboard Erasers
http://mschwarz.blogspot.com/2007/08/cardboard-erasers.html
A Western Perspective on Eastern Living. Wednesday, August 8, 2007. Moments like that move slowly. And what's with the title? I don't know. I stood here for a little while trying to come up with something better, but I kept coming back to "Cardboard Erasers." Now that I stand with an aerial view of my keyboard, I see my hands pouncing on keys like airplans pursuing their targets. Repositioning as the mothership doles out orders, directing each on its way towards home. Posted by Matthew Schwarz.
Something Indescribable: Beginning
http://mschwarz.blogspot.com/2009/05/beginning.html
A Western Perspective on Eastern Living. Monday, May 25, 2009. Friends, family, and fans. I have returned to the blogosphere. I'm preparing to spend the next 10 months doing Fulbright research in Vietnam, moving between Hanoi and Saigon in search of answers to the transcendental questions I established two years ago. Yes, I know it's been two years, and no, my questions (why are companies flooding the Vietnamese economy with investment? Will foreign direct investment foster political change in Vietnam?
Something Indescribable: July 2007
http://mschwarz.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
A Western Perspective on Eastern Living. Monday, July 30, 2007. I decided to do something I should've. Done a long time ago: buy a notepad to catalogue my thoughts as they accrue, rather than trying to recall them when I finally have time to write a blog entry. We left for the Mekong Delta on Thursday, and suffice it to say I haven't had that good a time in quite a while. Most of that derived from my having a notepad to scribble in, occasionally. Thursday, 4:00 PM: Hoa. Navigating bureaucracy is a challe...

Dave in Vietnam: Home

Journaling my study abroad trip in Vietnam, summer 2007. Wednesday, August 15, 2007. After more than twenty hours of flying, I am home. I am jet lagged and nocturnal, darker skinned, and slightly heavier than before I left. Life as I know it, has changed. I am still having trouble feeling grounded these days. As Jackie put it, the "real unpacking" has yet to begin. To life, love, and happiness. August 20, 2007 at 9:10 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Gimme back my camera! Bước Chân Của Mình.

Journaling my study abroad trip in Vietnam, summer 2007. Sunday, October 14, 2007. Thầy Hùng passed away last night. Thursday, September 27, 2007. It is late at night. And the North Star is shining. The mist covers the rice-fields. Are whispering full of crickets. The watch beats on the iron-wood gong,. And priests are ringing the pagoda bells. We hear the far-away games of peasants. And distant singing in the cottages. It is late at night. As we talk gently,. Sitting by one another,. Life is as beautiful as night. The red moon is rising. On the mountain side. Like a fire started among the trees. There is the North Star.

Something Indescribable
A Western Perspective on Eastern Living. Saturday, July 18, 2009. My mathematical prowess extends only far enough to calculate pot odds, so I'm not even gonna estimate how many days are remaining before my arrival at Vietnam National University in Hanoi. But as a newly qualified resident of Detroit, Michigan, it is not beyond my intellectual means to recognize that the magical day is rapidly approaching. Posted by Matthew Schwarz. Links to this post. IN DEEP SADNESS - MICHAEL SCHWARZ | OFFICIAL
IN MEMORY OF MIKE WALL. 1983 – 2018.
