LEBANONESQUE: July 2005
http://lebanonesque.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Impressions, views, and steam-blowing by a lonesome cowboy. Monday, July 25, 2005. Tear Up This Pact, Mr. Assad. Is egging on the Syrian government to abrogate all treaties signed between Lebanon and Syria. I say: "Quick, LET'S, before they change their minds". The weekly almost surely has the blessing of Syria's government. And I am pretty sure the Syrian government doesn't want to abrogate anything. But that is how they play the pressure game, against our hapless "leaders". After the World Court found ...

LEBANONESQUE: April 2006
http://lebanonesque.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Impressions, views, and steam-blowing by a lonesome cowboy. Friday, April 14, 2006. Short Stories of the 75-76 War. Yesterday, April 13, found many Lebanese bloggers trading stories about the civil war. And with Ecce Libano adding pressure, I had to blog. Two anecdotes that in my mind illustrate the horrible, the half-way decent, and the touching found in all wars. The militiamen asked for ID papers (which in Lebanon have an item revealing one's religion/sect). What are you doing here? I don’t know how h...

LEBANONESQUE: September 2005
http://lebanonesque.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
Impressions, views, and steam-blowing by a lonesome cowboy. Sunday, September 25, 2005. Pro-Palestinian, Pro-Lahoud Lebanese, Speak Up! Here we go again. It is like nothing happened in the past 30 years of Lebanese history. Palestinian arms and men are coming into Lebanon. Blogger said (full exchange there. To support Palestinians, do we have to start out with a disclaimer that discusses our unending support for Lebanon? YES, YOU DO. Given recent Lebanese history, you need to be very specific.". Bonus Qu...

Impressions, views, and steam-blowing by a lonesome cowboy. Thursday, August 04, 2005. I am speechless. Watch the video (arabic with english subtitles). HERE. Thank God for the SANE Mufti. Watch also the (undeserved) deference both the interviewer and the Tyre Mufti give to the Mount-Lebanon Mufti. 1) As expected, the fanatical nut is more certain and assured in his demeanor. LEBANONESQUE: February 2006
http://lebanonesque.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Impressions, views, and steam-blowing by a lonesome cowboy. Sunday, February 19, 2006. Lahoud: Fly Me to Khartoum. You decide to go to a meeting of the Arab League of course. (That's the annual meeting of the Arab League March 28, in Kartoum, Sudan.). Because the only thing you can do is try to freeze time. And what better way to do that than to go to an event where NOTHING happens, NOBODY cares what happens, NO ONE registers what happens other than some overpaid self-important League bureaucreep. Well m...

LEBANONESQUE: December 2005
http://lebanonesque.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Impressions, views, and steam-blowing by a lonesome cowboy. Wednesday, December 28, 2005. Israel Retaliates: Saniora Do Your Job. Katyusha's fired over north Israel. Israel bombs Palestinians in Naameh. Palestinian groups and Hezballah deny firing on Israel. The US, EU and UN will urge caution on all sides? The suspense is killing me. I just want to focus on one simple aspect, but that aspect pervades the whole (failed) approach to the problem. Here is what PM Saniora said after the Israeli attack. I als...

LEBANONESQUE: June 2005
http://lebanonesque.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Impressions, views, and steam-blowing by a lonesome cowboy. Wednesday, June 29, 2005. I hate to repeat the obvious, but somehow in Lebanon, the obvious is not grasped by many. This is a bit of a "cheap" post, it is my reply to other bloggers from this post. I don't want discuss the technical details of the VAT, which may or may not be a good thing in Lebanon. I disagree when Steve says it's a good sign we are discussing details. We cannot shove things under the rug that is always a recipe for disaster.

LEBANONESQUE: November 2005
http://lebanonesque.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Impressions, views, and steam-blowing by a lonesome cowboy. Saturday, November 26, 2005. Fun with Amr Mussa and the Arab League. More hilarity from the useless Arab League and its chief, Amr Mussa. The story is from Naharnet and it's very short. I'm posting the full Naharnet story. With my own comments [bracketed]. Arab League Refuses Isolating Syria [Title]. Very good Amr, stick with your specialty. The Arab League is good at one thing and one thing only: refusing, saying "NO" to everything.]. Amr as a ...

Impressions, views, and steam-blowing by a lonesome cowboy. Friday, October 28, 2005. Army Response: Better, but not Enough. (Updated). The words used by our politicians and our military have got to change. Along with their actions. Mohamed Ismail, a civilian, doing work for and with the Lebanese Army as shot dead two days ago. In my book, the shooting killed an innocent Lebanese civilian (bad enough) AND was an assault on the authority of the army, pure and simple. The creeps apparently took 6 army sold...

LEBANONESQUE: March 2006
http://lebanonesque.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Impressions, views, and steam-blowing by a lonesome cowboy. Wednesday, March 08, 2006. Lonely Are the Brave: General Aziz el-Ahdab. For those who remember and for those who don't know, I am getting ready for March 11. Thirty years ago when Lebanon was falling apart, and when no one stood up to do the right thing, Brigadier General Aziz el-Ahdab did. The disappointing thing to many at the time, including myself, was the total absence of any position by the army on the fate of the nation and its security&#...
