Completed: the Miette Cardigan | LLADYBIRD
https://lladybird.com/2012/07/10/completed-the-miette-cardigan
Completed: the Miette Cardigan. I have a confession to make: this cardigan has actually been finished for about a week now. All I had left to do was to sew on the buttons. It is pretty uncharacteristic of me to put off the final touches of a project – I want it to be finished so I can actually wear it! 8211; but this sweater stumped me for about a week. I’m happy to report that I did manage to fix it, though! So now let’s talk about the pattern, and my issues with cotton yarn. This is the Miette. So how ...

Two New BC Pattern Companies! May 1, 2013. I was so thrilled this past week to discover two brand new sewing pattern companies from my home province of British Columbia! Out of Victoria, focuses exclusively on patterns for menswear. YES! Offers (genuinely) fashionable, casual separates for women. Thread Theory and Fine Motor Skills are both releasing patterns that fill major holes in my pattern collection – patterns I’ve been looking for for ages. Thread Theory’s Goldstream Peacoat. 1968: The Year the Shifts Lost Shape | The Muslinette

1968: The Year the Shifts Lost Shape. April 24, 2013. I’ve been into fashion for as long as I can remember, and I’ve been into fashion history for just about as long. While I’ve always thought of fashion history as being about the influential design houses, I’m hugely enjoying looking at changes in fashion trends through the lens of vintage sewing patterns. I’ve been going through them year by year on the Vintage Pattern Wiki. Which is an amazingly comprehensive resource. Check No French Dart? The “...

Where I Shop | The Muslinette
https://themuslinette.wordpress.com/where-i-shop
Still, I think I’ve managed to figure out where to get the good stuff…. But really, maybe all you need to know about Dressew is this: they don’t just have one stretchy catprint velour – they have a section of stretchy catprint velour. How do you not love that! NB: some yelpers complain about the staff. I’m in there at least 3 times/month, and I’ve always found them to be perfectly pleasant, ranging from neutral-just-cutting-the-metres to really quite friendly. 6201 Fraser St – 46th and Fraser). All posts by aliesje. Say Yes part two (in which I demonstrate my indecisiveness). July 1, 2013. I am aware of how indecisive I am, and I’m aware it’s not a good thing. I’m so indecisive that I usually shop (fabric, fashion, shoes) alone, because I know how annoying my deliberations can be to others. I thought I had settled on Butterick 5485 for my floral poplin, but now I’m thinking of Burdastyle 07/2011 #110. It’s an edgier pattern, I think…. Unrelatedly, I am so lucky – I may seldom win things, ...

Say Yes to the Dress Pattern | The Muslinette
https://themuslinette.wordpress.com/2013/06/27/say-yes-to-the-dress-pattern
Say Yes to the Dress Pattern. June 27, 2013. I was out shoe shopping today, and I always feel badly for the clerks in the shoe stores I go to. I shop for shoes like some women shop for wedding dresses. I’m picky – mainly because I can only afford a couple of pairs of decent shoes. I’ll try on every last pair in the city before finally making a decision. Portrait of a fabric. The floral bunches range between 4 and 6″ long. I had a few ideas. I was first thinking of doing a 2nd colette peony dress (I h...
