A foray into the world of the 2-wheeled amateur (by Michael)
2008 December 29 « Gotta Scoot
https://msteven2.wordpress.com/2008/12/29
A foray into the world of the 2-wheeled amateur. About me and this project. 26 December 2008 – Beasts of the Bush. Ah, blashpemy, sweet blasphemy! Today I can’t escape the feeling that I’ve betrayed my scooterist roots by bashing my way through some backroads of endless bushland of the north-east coast of Australia. No doubt the beast of choice for such an endevour is not the horse or oxen of yesteryear, but the gutteral roar of my friend’s 600cc quad-bike. December 29, 2008. About me and this project.

A foray into the world of the 2-wheeled amateur. About me and this project. Bali Sandat Inn II, Kuta, Indonesia. It’s 10am and you’ve been up for an hour or so, taking a leisurely dip in the swimming pool, having a delicious breakfast at the local cafe while perusing The Weekend Australian,. Delivered to you personally along with your preferred morning repast of pancakes, Balinese coffee and fruit salad. Pardon the cliché, but what could possibly make the day any more perfect? If Balinese motorcyclists h...

A foray into the world of the 2-wheeled amateur. About me and this project. 19 August 2007 Double lives. How often have you led a double life? For many of us, the teenage years provided the fertile soil in which our tendencies to say one thing and do the other grew like a field of wildflowers. Just think about the number of times you said, Sure mum… I. I’ll be home by 11… no, I’m only going to the. To see ‘Driving Miss Daisy’! We’re minding it for a friend…. Of course we’re rather lucky here folks ...

Thanks to the support of all my readers, I’ve decided that sometimes it’s more important to get the idea out than letting it languish inside your head. So here goes. March 19, 2008. Little Billy's Scooter Tales: May 2007
http://scootertales.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Little Billy's Scooter Tales. Sunday, May 27, 2007. Ride To "New" Work. Here's my working class scoot Mule, parked in our classy new workplace. We have actually laid claim to a parking area designated for "Scooters Only". Had Jeff and Dreamcrusher not been at lunch, the photo would have been of three scoots instead of one. The upside is that my daily commute has doubled in distance, and this gives me a chance to unwind, and take the slow road home. Posted by Bill Sommers at 1:32 PM. Coming from this part...
Little Billy's Scooter Tales: July 2007
http://scootertales.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Little Billy's Scooter Tales. Sunday, July 29, 2007. Clean It, Fix It, Sell It. Ever since the big windstorm last November, my Harley Davidson has been tucked away in the "old" shop out back. Now that I've glombed onto the scooter as my chosen mode of two wheeled trasportation, I haven't really wanted to visit my old Sporty. That was, not until Friday. Posted by Bill Sommers at 2:45 PM. Wednesday, July 25, 2007. My father-in-law "Corndog" had gone out last Thursday to meet up with some great folks that w...

Little Billy's Scooter Tales. Friday, June 29, 2007. Happy In The Rain. Well, it wasn't raining when I left work, why would I think that it would before I got home? Oh yeah, it always rains in June here. Maybe Summer will officially begin on July 5th like it does every year. Ahh, who cares, I'm happy and thats all that counts. My wife probably thought that I was nuts the other night when I went peeling down the road wearing my cargo shorts and a skull design tee-shirt, yelling "Wooo"! Reaction. This ...

Little Billy's Scooter Tales. Sunday, March 25, 2007. Waking Up My Old Vespa. And Myself. Six short kicks had Ol' Blue clouding up the yard with that wonderful two-stroke smoke that I just love. Even my neighbor took notice and came over. He and his wife have Yamaha Zuma scooters that probably won't see daylight till June. Too bad, because the weather is looking better than it has for months, and it seems a waste to not ride whenever you can. But that's his deal. I no longer have the urge or want for some...
MV Chris: November 2008
http://mvchris.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 11, 2008. The City of the Swallows - San Juan Capistrano, California. Dubbed the 'Equestrian Capitol of the West Coast' and Orange County's Oldest City, San Juan Capistrano was incorporated in 1961 with just over 1,100 residents. The Mission bearing the city's namesake, however, was founded in 1776 by Father Junipero Serra. I didn't spend all day there, but it was definitely an enjoyable hour or so of wandering. I will definitely return to explore a little deeper another day. Lo...Who r...
MV Chris: The Imperfect Stranger
http://mvchris.blogspot.com/2008/09/imperfect-stranger.html
Thursday, September 25, 2008. A sunset makes everything better, eh? So what is the deal with people -perfect strangers- compelled to inform me of the dangers of riding? All the Brits here know someone, they say, who's been killed/crippled/seriously injured on a scooter, that's why they would never. I only know one, Hamdi the carpenter, who wasn't paying attention on the Kaş road, went round a bend too fast, and ended up on the rocks below with his bike in the sea. September 26, 2008 at 2:16 AM. MV Chris: Dollars and Caffeine
http://mvchris.blogspot.com/2008/10/dollars-and-caffeine.html
Thursday, October 2, 2008. You get the 'miles per gallon' question with a certain amount of regularity when people ask about the benefit of riding a scooter. I prefer the 'actual dollars spent' variable, for a few reasons. You can quote the 60-70 mpg number, and it earns a lot of thumbs up, but quote dollars spent and it drops jaws. Why? Double the miles for well. And that's not all. There is a term for this, I believe that it's called "Schadenfreude! October 5, 2008 at 1:28 PM. October 7, 2008 at 8:08 AM.
MV Chris: Dogs Love...Scooters?
http://mvchris.blogspot.com/2008/10/dogs-lovescooters.html
Wednesday, October 1, 2008. I guess I was on the fence about whether that was a good idea or not, carrying the dog while riding. Sorta like people that let their dogs run loose (or worse, chained at the neck) in the bed of their pickup trucks. On one hand, the dog loves it. On the other, I can't imagine it is very safe for the dog. Agree? And what's the weirdest thing you've seen on two wheels? October 2, 2008 at 6:18 AM. Thumbs up for: Oasis of my soul. October 2, 2008 at 9:03 AM. Big Guy, Small Scooter.

MV Chris: deviantART / Fuel-Sipping Cage
http://mvchris.blogspot.com/2008/09/deviantart.html
Monday, September 22, 2008. DeviantART / Fuel-Sipping Cage. For some pretty cool scooter-based artwork. The art above is by deviantARTist loish. And, on an unrelated note, check out Ford's new Fiesta. Which gets 'scooter mileage,' but will only be sold in Europe. The linked article gives a lot of reasons why it can't be sold in the US, mostly due to American consumer's aversion to using diesel fuel. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
