Ms. Walter's AP Blog

Ms Walter's AP Blog. Posted by Mrs. Turick. On Monday, January 3, 2011. A few things to consider as we move forward:. 1 Poor Emily. All she wants out of life is to be chaste, pure, and free from boy drama. However, even the goddess of chastity (Diana) herself denies her that privilege! Yet Arcite and Palamon lie, cheat, and disobey the king, and they are rewarded with honor and love. Why does the Knight (or Chaucer) tell a tale of such imbalance? Is this tale used to further oppress women of royalty?

Ms Walter's AP Blog. Posted by Mrs. Turick. On Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Dora's Hot Seat presentation and Frankenstein pages 1-76. 1 In chapter 10, Shelley makes a very loud comparison between Victor and God. How does Victor contrast a god-like figure? How does he abuse the power of creation? Victor is driven by a need to discover, to learn, to create, and to be all-knowing. This passion leads him to a fantastic discovery, but it is this same passion that emotionally destroys him. As Hamlet loses his...

Ms Walter's AP Blog. A Couple of Reminders. Posted by Mrs. Turick. On Thursday, October 29, 2009. In regards to your college essay. 1 Just because something sad or horrible has happened to you does not mean that you will be a good college student. Unless you only use the horrible experience as a lens with which to magnify your own personal characteristics, you will not write a good essay. Did You Pick the Right Topic? Tru Hoang's Blog: September 2010

http://truhoang.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Essential Question # 3. Females were usually viewed as insignificant in prehistoric society. In Beowulf, we rarely see any appearance of a woman at all. When Wealhtheow, queen of Heorot, wife of Hrothgar, makes an entrance into the story, it raises question of the significant of this female character. Why is she more special than other women in Heorot aside from her social status? What will this presence bring to Beowulf? That is to be revealed later in the story.

Thursday, October 7, 2010. Essential Question # 4. By William Henley is a character of paganism: "I thank whatever gods maybe" (line 3). In the poem, it can be inferred that the narrator is a hero struggling to fight against evil because the description of the narrator is centered on the characteristic of a battle: "my head is bloody, but unbowed" (line 8), "I have not winced nor cried out loud" (line 6).
