Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue. Our unit fits into a unique niche in the SAR community by holding onto a dedication and emphasis on youth development and leadership. The general membership has traditionally been directly supervised by our youth officers (age 15-18). Some of the administrative roles have been filled by non-advisor adult members. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue was founded more than 50 years ago as a Bagpipe Explorer Post #631 in 1962. Our organization is staffed by 100% unpaid very dedicated volunteers. The general membership is made up of both youth and adult members as young as 14 years old. We are active and on call 24/7. Members are called out when a search is activated, and they meet at the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office on 122nd and Glisan.
