Owning a Defender 110: November 2013
http://defender110nz.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Owning a Defender 110. Saturday, November 30, 2013. I purchased some large black carpet tiles this weekend, to cover the MDF shelf I had previously built. I had intended to cut the tiles to shape and install them this weekend, but the garden took over. And I have not been able to get to the car. It has not been washed either. You can see how when the tiles are installed it will make the false floor disappear. Maybe next weekend. First Out of Town Trip. Monday, November 18, 2013. Today I took the car in f...

Only extras are fuel and some food. If you are interested contact the site at http:/ rallytours.co.nz. I know I am! I have already contacted them.

Rebuilding the cylinder head. | MeAndMyLandy

One more Land Rover saved from the scrap heap…. Rebuilding the cylinder head. May 22, 2014. May 27, 2014. For this reason I decided to revamp the head whilst it was off, I had already removed the head from the engine, removing the manifolds and rocker shaft in the process. With the rocker shaft removed I could check the valves and rockers, all but one seemed fine; one of the valves had a groove worn in the top:. The rocker showed corresponding wear too:. The engine would have originally been painted duck...

One more Land Rover saved from the scrap heap…. What happens when you get water in your engine? April 27, 2014. When water enters a diesel engine, it causes a hydraulic lock. This is bad. I recently managed to get my engine wet and it didn’t like it. My previous post. Blue bags are never a good thing:. To remove the con rod from the piston you need to remove the circlips from either side of the gudgeon pin, then use a suitably sized socket as a drift to gently tap the pin out of the piston, the con rod c...

One more Land Rover saved from the scrap heap…. August 19, 2014. Hello again, it’s been a while since my last post, but I promise you I’ve been busy🙂 To compensate, here is an extra long post! So far I have covered the strip down, showing how the Land Rover was dismantled ready for the refurb. Now it’s time to begin rebuilding it. First off I propped the axle up on stands and removed the wheels and brake lines, then using a grinder I cut the U-bolts and removed the leaf springs:. Parts look much better ...

One more Land Rover saved from the scrap heap…. The Strip Down (Part 2). July 10, 2014. August 5, 2014. So with the engine and gearbox out, the only thing left was the bodywork, chassis and axles… easy right? The bonnet simply lifts off, and I’d already removed the radiator panel so I started with the wings. I quickly found that either:. A) Solihull employed contortionists to attach the wings to the bulkhead. B) I’m doing it wrong…. Closely followed by the drivers side:. Next to come off were the doors a...

One more Land Rover saved from the scrap heap…. The Strip Down (Part 1). June 26, 2014. June 27, 2014. Well I’ve done it, jumped in with both feet and taken the old girl back to a bare chassis…. I’ve been tinkering, polishing, painting and fixing previous bodges over the last few months and with the MOT looming I needed to tackle some of the bigger jobs – these included:. Replace leaking hub seals. Replace leaking gearbox seals. Actually it was a little more planned than that – only a little though!
