A bit of this, a bit of that. So, it's been far too long since I've written. again. and again, I'm going to try to be better! Turns out it's not always easy cooking for one, but if I embrace the joys of freezing foods (and remembering to eat them again later) maybe I can try some fun things again. Here's what I did:. Choose my veggies: kohlrabi, carrots, onion, green/yellow/and purple beans. First, I sauted the onions in a little butter in a pot. Cook veggies until they are almost done to my liking.

A bit of this, a bit of that. Whoa - I'm kind of a whiner. We have lots to be thankful for and this is the time of year to spend some time thinking about those things. In the meantime, we're getting ready for one of the best parts. Thanksgiving dinner! A couple of weeks ago, I was talking to Mom about the menu, and it went something like this:. The sweet one with the raisins. Mom: I think I might just make one kind of stuffing this year. Mom: I was thinking the sage one. Best buns ever. (sorry, Mom!

So, we teamed up (which is what we did whenever we decided to stop fighting) to prove our theory - and, in my memory, it went something like this:. Where did you get this Archie comic? So, when a fri...

A bit of this, a bit of that. I was driving to my hometown for the July 4th weekend and decided to take a different route for part of it. some of it I had been on before, but only a few times, and some I hadn't done at all. I had my camera with, so took some pictures along the way. In a little town called Fremont, there's an small town grocery / convenience store. The sign says it's been open for 157 years. Wow. Lady: Just the pop? Me: OK, here you go. (pulls 50 cents out). Me: Oh, there it is! Last week...

A bit of this, a bit of that. A couple of weeks ago, I was in Florida for work and took a little trip to see my aunt and uncle who live there. In addition to getting to spend time with them, an added bonus is that they are wonderful cooks who fed me quite well while I was there. When I got home, I didn't eat for almost a day, I was so full - honest! Three 6-inch corn tortillas. 2 tsp ground cumin, divided. 1/2 tsp. chili powder. 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil. 1 c finely chopped onion. 4 c chicken broth. Return m...

A bit of this, a bit of that. As we approach Thanksgiving. The people who gave eulogies today talked about how he had love in his life. Love for his family. Love for his friends. Love for God. Love for everyone. He just loved. At the service, there was a display of pictures and stories - and I think my personal favorite, a list of things you would commonly hear him say. The last one on the list was "I sure do love you.". Do we even actually tell them on Thanksgiving? Links to this post. Last week, I subm...
