Owner: Montana Department of Transportation. This well-preserved trace of the Mullan Road winds its way around a rocky point just west of Alberton, Montana. You can still walk through the narrow gaps in the large rocks blasted by Mullan's crews. Between the gaps, the road is still supported by abutments created from hand-lain rock.
