A career and a family. A modern woman. I noticed in a cafe in a bookshop recently a sign saying breastfeeding welcome. This made me feel happy that they are taking into consideration the needs and the feelings of people who want to breastfeed and who are worried about where to do it – especially if they have ever been made to feel unwelcome. The burden placed on employers is great – not only do you have to pay a non productive member of staff (if you have enhanced maternity policies) while they are off, you have to pay their replacement or risk the potential for a reduction in service. Still missing the rain…have used a lot of tap water on the wildflower meadow to try to keep the seeds viable (and induce them to sprout) but it’s full of nutrients as well as being relatively expensive (in water terms; in cost terms it’s dirt cheap! March 8, 2015. Yesterday was a lovely day so I got my early spring planting done and then read in the garden for a while. Couldn’t have asked for better weather. Just a quickie…. April 11, 2015. Yesterday was another fine, sunny day and so after cycling home from work I felt motivated enough to do a little planting. I finally gave up on the thyme and sowed some coriander in its place (I would have re-sown the thyme but I’ve lost it! June 27, 2015. Too busy to blog but things are progressing in the garden of rampant growth. For now just an update on the pond. And went to try again. The lady at The Natural Garden was lovely and we had a nice chat about aquatic plants, horses and everything else and I ended up with…. There were several other plants on my wishlist, particularly oxygenators, but these were all she had that were native (some are cultivars). I plan to look online for oxygenators.
