Mummy's London Kitchen: Roasted vegetable and goats cheese tart
http://mummyslondonkitchen.blogspot.com/2013/11/roasted-vegetable-and-goats-cheese-tart.html
Inspiring you to cook your recipes, your way. Saturday, 16 November 2013. Roasted vegetable and goats cheese tart. Made this as the vegetarian option for a big family lunch since had a roll of puff pastry and thought this was quite simply- expected lots of left over- this was chosen by everyone even the meateaters and was completely polished off! Prepare the vegetables by roasting in oil. I used red peppers, courgettes and aubergines (which I pre-salted before roasting). This can be all done in advance&#...
Mummy's London Kitchen: May 2013
http://mummyslondonkitchen.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Inspiring you to cook your recipes, your way. Tuesday, 21 May 2013. White chocolate and banana mudcakes. This is a great recipe to throw together for a tea time treat or for the school pick up when you have hungry kids. There are some naughty ingredients but the bananas add some good stuff! I often make a full batch and then freeze half so that I have a batch ready and waiting to just bake once it has defrosted (though to be fair it doesn't really take long to make this from scratch). 150 ml hot water.

Mummy's London Kitchen: September 2012
http://mummyslondonkitchen.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Inspiring you to cook your recipes, your way. Sunday, 23 September 2012. Pear, caramel and chocolate truffle meringue. A twist on the banoffee meringue when we had friends round who didn't like bananas. So thought I'd adapt it with pears and caramel. Begin making a caramel meringue. Whisk 4 egg whites until they form stiff peaks. Then add 175g soft light brown sugar and 60g caster sugar and 1tbsp cornflour. Take some firm yet ripe pears and peel. Place in a large saucepan. Cover with water (around 500ml ...
Mummy's London Kitchen: Doggie treats
http://mummyslondonkitchen.blogspot.com/2014/03/doggie-treats.html
Inspiring you to cook your recipes, your way. Friday, 14 March 2014. This year brought a new arrival- a labrador puppy. She loves her food but treats are costly and also she is a typical lab and so we need to watch her waist line. I've made her some sweet potato chews which are very easy and cheap (not don't allow too many at once since they can upset their tummy). These biscuits are also very easy to make and cheap. Combine until you have a fairly even dough- add more water or flour as required. Bake at...

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat: Cookies and Cream Brownies
http://cookingisagameyoucaneat.blogspot.com/2011/03/cookies-and-cream-brownies.html
Cooking is a Game You Can Eat. First the oven, then the tin, wash your hands and then begin. Friday, 11 March 2011. Cookies and Cream Brownies. These brownies were almost impossible for me to photograph. I baked them - they vanished. They are inspired by Lorraine Pascale's recipe in her lovely book Baking Made Easy. Crossed with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's ultimate double chocolate brownies from The River Cottage Year. How big is a good dollop? Bake at Gas mark 3/170 degrees C until nearly cooked - a s...

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat. First the oven, then the tin, wash your hands and then begin. Monday, 15 April 2013. Gosh it's been a while but I'm still here and I'm still cooking! I sort of fell a bit out of love with blogging for a while but I have continued photographing my culinary creations with the intention of sharing them one day. And another from BBC Food made with apple puree and honey. APPLE AND HONEY CRANACHAN. 4 large Bramley apples. 75g/3 oz rolled oats. 1 tbsp caster sugar. Lightly whip th...

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat: Simple pleasures: Welsh cakes
http://cookingisagameyoucaneat.blogspot.com/2011/03/simple-pleasures-welsh-cakes.html
Cooking is a Game You Can Eat. First the oven, then the tin, wash your hands and then begin. Wednesday, 2 March 2011. Simple pleasures: Welsh cakes. This post is for Sticky Fingers The Gallery. And this week's theme is simple pleasures. Yesterday was St David's Day and, as my two traditionally dressed Welsh ladies. Hurtled off to school, they. Reminded me that I usually make Welsh cakes. Pop them on to a preheated griddle (or frying pan - no fat) and cook on each side until golden brown and still slightl...

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat: October 2010

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat. First the oven, then the tin, wash your hands and then begin. Friday, 22 October 2010. It's bake off time again, or, to be precise English Mum's Great Big Autumn Bakeoff. Autumn to me is the prefect time for baking, not that I don't stop baking any other time of year but there's something about autumn, its misty mornings and berry-laden trees that sends me into the kitchen. Cooking is a Game You Can Eat: January 2011
http://cookingisagameyoucaneat.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Cooking is a Game You Can Eat. First the oven, then the tin, wash your hands and then begin. Sunday, 9 January 2011. Passion fruit curd marbled frangipane muffins. These are delicious muffins. They're based on Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's recipe from River Cottage Everyday (which I highly recommend - full of good stuff). Recipe makes 12 big muffins. Line a muffin tin with cases and put the oven on to Gas mark 4/180 degrees C. Pop in the oven for half an hour until golden brown. Eat while still warm.

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat: February 2011
http://cookingisagameyoucaneat.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Cooking is a Game You Can Eat. First the oven, then the tin, wash your hands and then begin. Thursday, 24 February 2011. I mentioned on my other blog about running out of LPG and necessity being the mother of invention. So last night I was still without a cooker. As supper time approached and I had left over dahl from the night before, I looked at the fire and contemplated the idea of cooking naan bread on it somehow. The germ of the idea had been sown by Chris Stovell of Home Thoughts Weekly. It was hot...

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat: August 2010
http://cookingisagameyoucaneat.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Cooking is a Game You Can Eat. First the oven, then the tin, wash your hands and then begin. Wednesday, 11 August 2010. Today it was two bananas. They had passed the just-spotty-and-totally-delicious phase and were well on the way to falling-out-of-the-skin-in-a-very-bananary-way phase. So I made muffins, but not without my orders. R6 doesn't like the brown bits that really ripe bananas leave in muffins but doesn't mind the flavour so subterfuge is the order of the day. "Make them really choclate...Two v...

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat: May 2011

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat. First the oven, then the tin, wash your hands and then begin. Monday, 16 May 2011. I made this for pudding on Sunday to follow roast chicken with green garlic and herb stuffing and a big pile of spring veg. I'll blog my lazy stuffing recipe at a later date but the pudding was a triumph so here is the recipe. Break up five or six shop-bought meringue nests (or home made if you've got them) and make sure you've got a big pot (450g) of Yeo Valley strawberry yoghurt. This serve...

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat: April 2013

Cooking is a Game You Can Eat. First the oven, then the tin, wash your hands and then begin. Wednesday, 17 April 2013. Simple slow cooked chicken. This is what I call 'Chicken Smug' because it's what I bung into the oven on busy days. I can happily go out, leaving it to do its thing and when I get home, there it is, cooked and ready to eat and I can dish it up to hungry mouths and feel all smug and virtuous. 4-5 sticks of celery. Splash of oil or dab of butter. Wash and slice the leeks and celery. When r...

Little Style Zoo – 3kids+coffee+pretty things
3kids coffee pretty things. February 24, 2015. Okay so I’m obsessed with pineapples (…and monochrome, and chevron, and and and…! I bought the super cute white pineapple lamps from Kmart recently for my bedside tables, with the intention of doing a bit of DIY on them. On the bedside table is my lamp BEFORE my lamp base revamp (also before I ditched my turquoise sheets, I have a coral sheet set going on now, and looks much better with the teal bedside tables). 8211; masking tape. 8230;and here we go:.

Inspiring you to cook your recipes, your way. Tuesday, 9 January 2018. OK not quite but this is packed full of goodness. It really does set you up for the day. I've adapted a few recipes I've used before to come up with this one which created a lovely crisp top and soft centre. Went down well with a crowd of children. Take 200g dark chocolate and 100g milk chocolate and 250g butter. Melt together in a bowl in the microwave. Saturday, 6 January 2018. Baked olives and feta. Where there is then a slack bit ...
