Writings, witicisms and wranglings of modern motherhood. Wednesday, March 21, 2012. There are four babies I'll never hold, so holding you was life-changing. I remember the joy of your birth. My mum was with me and we laughed and joked and smiled at the wonder of it all. Hubby was overjoyed and especially delighted when you came out ginger like him! Daisy and Poppy couldn't believe their luck - a perfect little doll that moved. All was well with the world. We have made it to 18 months and you got me there...

Mummy Mania: the sound of heaven
http://mummymania.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-sound-of-heaven.html
Writings, witicisms and wranglings of modern motherhood. Monday, March 4, 2013. The sound of heaven. Thre is no greater sound than the cacophony of childish giggles, yells and squeals. It is the sound of life living. But there is no sweeter sound than the seconds after they all run out the door.a stampede of squealing, shouting shoe-searching, coat catching, that leaves a wake of pure, blissful, unadulterated silence. A silence so powerful it can knock you over. Mama of 2 boys. 05 March, 2013 11:38.

It feels amazing just to be writing it. I know I shouldn't be feeling this desperate to get away, BUT I AM! I told you to look away, but one day you'll understand! Although I've no doubt at all girls, I'll be thinking about you every day. Monday, November 21, 2011. Reading them I realise how honest I was, how at ea...

Writings, witicisms and wranglings of modern motherhood. Friday, February 15, 2013. Then my 30's hit and it was all about being deliciously selfish - 'be the best. Work hard, play hard.' Then parenting arrived like a punch in the face and it was all about keeping my sanity. 'just get throguh each day! Be a better parent tomorrow.". I'm considering banning rolling eyes too. And the word 'whatever.'. So I'm now imposing a word ban on myself. I am no longer allowed to use the words "I should be doing...

Writings, witicisms and wranglings of modern motherhood. Thursday, December 13, 2012. Do you ever have one of those weekends when the volume dial is just jammed on high? Do you ever have one of those weeks when your head jars with the constant jangle of 'I'm a crap parent today' melodied with 'you must be a better parent today', till your head feels like splitting in two with the bickering voices? Writings, witicisms and wranglings of modern motherhood. Thursday, January 24, 2013. I'm no longer special. And it's great! When I first had Daisy, I became her world. Literally. Like any parent. When hubby went off to Germany while I nurtured our new baby to be, Daisy and I lived in a little bubble of love together. When Poppy came along, it was all about keeping them apart for fear Daisy would batter her! And I became Poppy's world. She wouldn't let me out of her sight for two years! And so I stand bac...

Writings, witicisms and wranglings of modern motherhood. Sunday, January 29, 2012. My life is a Rod Stewart song. And so the dreaded day arrived. I knew it would - it's par for the course in parenting, right? As one by one of my friends fell, wounded by the wicked words of innocent anger, I couldn't really believe my first born baby would turn on me. But now, I too have been shot by the brutal bullet. 'I hate you'. And in response to her childish attack, did I behave like an adult? A thank you card to me.

Writings, witicisms and wranglings of modern motherhood. Thursday, June 21, 2012. Today I had an encounter of the weird kind. Quite upsetting actually, although I'm forcing myself to laugh. Laugh in the face of nutters, right? Suddenly a young man walked past me and as he did he turned to me angrily and snarled, "It's hard being a child. How dare you treat her like that. You're one of those angry mothers you see everywhere! Did he walk away? We can't win, can we? Tuesday, June 12, 2012. A mother draws a ...

Mummy Mania: Growing down
http://mummymania.blogspot.com/2013/03/growing-down.html
Writings, witicisms and wranglings of modern motherhood. Saturday, March 30, 2013. I've decided I want to grow down for a while. Not reduce my height grow down, but the grow down that is the opposite of grow up. I want to grow down and find all those fun and childish values that get pushed out of the way to make room for more bone mass and chocolate induced fat cells as we get older. So to put a bit of life back into that filling (since I can't change the bread), I've two chutney challenges for myself.
