Copy Cat – Life with Lexi

Enjoying Your Baby's Development. March 7, 2016. March 7, 2016. Copying adults (and other children) is how Lexi is learning lots of different things. She watches us and then once she is ready, she has a go herself. This is still how I prefer to learn. I would much rather watch a you tube video to know how to do something than read a lengthy manual! Babies don’t need to learn to copy us because they do it innately but we can copy them to encourage (or not copy to discourage! Lexi loves it when we copy her.

Enjoying Your Baby's Development. March 14, 2016. Point to the window, Point to the door…. When my friends’ babies started to point I got really excited. They looked at me like they were pleased I was taking an interest in their child but really…is it that exciting Sarah? Well I think so! Pointing is quite a big step in terms of communication . Pointing is babies way of saying. 8220;what’s that? 8220;I want that”. 8220;ooh, this feels different”. Lexi enjoyed me copying her and she realised her pointing ...

Enjoying Your Baby's Development. April 26, 2016. April 26, 2016. Listen…can your hear the…. I’m really excited because my first guest blog post was published yesterday. My post was published on I Can’s blog! I Can is a brilliant charity and have lots of fab free resources on their website. They will be sharing some of these with us on our blog in a couple of months. If you don’t want to miss out on one of my posts about pre-verbal skills that help communication click here. And use them at about 12 months.

Bababa….babble! – Life with Lexi
https://homevideosofaspeechandlanguagetherapist.wordpress.com/2016/03/22/bababa-babble
Enjoying Your Baby's Development. March 22, 2016. March 22, 2016. Last week I wrote a piece on pointing. And why I found it so exciting! It would be rude not to do a post on the most well known and obvious communication milestone in our babies development… Babbling! Lexi has recently started to add a little bit of meaning to her babble. ‘Bu’ usually means book and ‘dada’ whilst pointing at James is unfortunately. Also becoming more common. ‘a! 8216;eeeee’ (weeee! If possible I try and interpret what it i...

Home made toys – Life with Lexi

Enjoying Your Baby's Development. December 28, 2015. January 23, 2016. I love making (quick) toys from bits and bobs that I already have a home and it turns out these are some of Lexi’s favourite toys! Scarfs, sensory bottles, wooden spoons, cake tins, plastic pots, hairbrush, ribbon boxes, water and emergency blankets have all become essential toys. I spent 5 minutes running around the house collecting bits that I have used as ‘toys’ and here is what I found:. Language is learnt through play. Allowing h...
