News and views from the heart of Munro country. What is a Munro? For those who are not keen hillwalkers a Munro is a Scottish mounatain with a summit height of 3000ft (914.4m) or higher. They are named after Sir Hugh Munro who published the first table of these mountains in 1891. Those hillwalkers who have seriously been bitten by the munro bug aim to climb all 284 mountains, and are able to register as a “compleatist” with the Munro Society. Stob Coire a’Chairn.
